so I know that blurry vision can be a symptom of preeclampsia. but what about seeing dark spots? I can still see fine but there are these little dark spots I keep seeing. when I laid down on my left side it went away. what causes this?
Are you dizzy or lightheaded when the spots happen? If so, def check with your doc at your next appointment.Or, if this is causing you worry, call and check.
I recently had an issue with flashes of light. I'm very nearsighted I take special care to note changes that might be a sign that somethings wrong with my retinas. After going to a retina specialist, it was determined that I had a small hole in each of my retinas. Left untreated, holes can lead to retina detachments. I ended up having a laser procedure done on both my eyes that day. I was a wreck because I didn't know if would affect my baby but I also didn't want to risk going blind. Again, I'm extremely nearsighted so I have had to address issues since a very young age that the average person does not. Anyway, in the end, I'm glad I got the procedure and the procedure didn't not cause any risks to my baby (it was a thermal laser).
Definitly speak to a doctor and have s/he check out your retinas.
I was just thinking could it just be a migraine? I've never had one before but I've heard you can get these kind of vision changes before a migraine comes on. I'm laying down now and the spots went away but now I have a headache what do y'all think?
Ditto on this. It is probably nothing, but could be serious if it is retinal issue. We had a male friend that required emergency surgery to preserve his vision. I would get it checked out sooner rather than later to be on te safe side.

I'm having a horrible time with my vision this time around. Blurry, gunky, dry, etc. I am very aware of how pregnancy can mess with your eyes. I was told to drink a lot of water, and wear my contacts as little as possible.
I work as an optician in an Optometry office and although im not a doctor we do see patients with similar issues a lot. By what you described your symptoms could be the cause of many things from a simple floater which are harmless and can dissolve on their own, an ocular migraine which usually only last for short periods of time before symptoms disappear or all the way to a retinal detachment, which is very serious and can cause permanant loss of vision if not treated. I would highly recommend if you ever see flashes of light to make an appointment with your optometrist as soon as possible. Better safe then sorry! Hope that helps

If they're irregularly shaped, and move around, they could just be floaters, which are usually harmless. https://www.mayoclinic.com/health/eye-floaters/DS01036
