MD Parents: Anyone use LOCATE to find daycare?

We're just starting to try to research daycare options in the area, so I've been trying to use the LOCATE database from the Maryland Committee for Children, but everything I've input has come up with No results. Has anyone actually used the database successfully, or do I just give up and look for other resources? If the latter, anyone have resources to suggest? TIA.

  • I'm in the process of using them. I think the database is actually down today because I've been trying to log-in and also getting no results for searches I've had plenty of results for in the past. You should try calling them - I thought it would be just as easy to do it myself in the database, but they have counselors who walk through finding providers based upon your criteria (and some criteria that are not available in the database search to the public). Right now I think I've found 3-4 people who have infant openings who I'm going to interview (I'm looking for January).

  • Oh, great, thanks. I was getting a little nervous because I kept coming back with no results. We're obviously just starting, so I'll try again tomorrow, then see about calling once I've gotten a start with the db.

  • Where do I find this LOCATE database? We're also beginning the process of looking for daycare... Does anyone have a recommendation for infant daycare in Silver Spring? Google isn't helping.

    Thanks!?
