I want to hear...

I want to hear success stories. I want to hear how your post baby body is better than it ever was. Lol, I've been working extremely hard, Insanity hard. I have noticed weight loss in my rump and thighs, some in my stomach, but I still have the pooch. My husband says it's fine I'm a mom and I'll always have it. NO! Somebody give me some encouragement here so that I know to keep going and don't get frustrated.

Re: I want to hear...

  • My success story is a work in progress that started shortly before my DD turned one.  I have apparently become the inspiration for several of my co-workers.  I am a few months shy of 40, I am now about 40 lbs. below pre-pregnancy weight.  In the smallest clothing size I have ever been in.  My current goal is to be able to rock a bikini on my birthday (we are planning to go on a cruise) and for the first time ever not feel self-conscious about it.

  • I have just over a 6 month baby, and I want to know too, how to lose this weight.  I have a co worker who has been pregnant on & off for the past 3 years, and she just startd Weight Watchers.  Guess I'm going to see how that goes for her.  I didn't gain a TON of weight when pregnant, but enough to not feel sexy KWIM?  My husband says the same things your does, but doesn't really make me feel better about myself.  We just need to keep doing whats best for our bodies, eating right, and getting in some exercise when we can with a under 1 baby:)

  • I started Weight Watchers about 2 months after DD was born, then added walking an running after she was weaned at 14 months. Proud to say I lost 60 pounds and now weigh about 30 pounds less than I did on our wedding day and at least 50 pounds less than when I found out I was pregnant with DD.

  • Honestly, my pooch goes away if I eat super super clean and work out at least 4 itmes per week. Then I am feeling pretty good, maybe even bikini ready! The problem is, just one larger meal, or one fatty meal, and instead where it used to make no difference, it's like my whole entire stomach just deflates and gets really mushy. Honestly, after one bad meal. Sooooooo....for me, it's just not realistic right now to think I will never enjoy a fatty burger or a few extra glasses of wine. So I just work really hard and enjoy my life. I may never feel comfy in a bikini again, but I just had my second child a year ago. Give me another year, and my body might be ready to lose the pooch for good!

  • Don't get frustrated, you can definitely do this. Here's my story:

PP I was 120# (I'm 5'2") and a size 0-2. I gained 66# with DS. Yes 66#! I was horrified, felt ashamed, etc. It was horrible. I was determined to lose the weight.

By the time DS was 6 months old I was 5# above my PP weight, at 7 months I was back to my PP weight and it just kept coming off. I now weigh 107-108.

I joined WW when DS was about 2.5 months old and it really helped. So did committing to exercise. I made a commitment to myself to work out 5x a week no matter what.

You can do this. My body is way better now than PP. I was in a bikini when DS was 10 months old. I run 3x a week and do a weights/strength training video (Physique 57) 2x a week.

It is absolutely doable. I don't allow myself to make excuses. Ever.

  • I am 38 weeks pregnant right now, but after having my DD I lost all the baby weight, plus some.  I will be honest and say that I was still shaped differently than I was before.  I was definitely in really good shape though (I even ran a half marathon... something that I thought was impossible!).

  • This is my first baby but I am a believer like another mother said if you are determined it will happen.  I am 40lbs in an I am determined to love me and my body.  Mothers are still women and we still want to feel great and beautiful about ourselves.  It may just take a little more work than we are used to.  I am committed and I am more than happy to share the journey with you.
  • so people think I'm nuts because i complain about the "pooch".  my mom asks me every week if I'm loosing more weight because I look too skinny.  A student I have, her mom says I've lost too much weight.  I'm honestly healthy but I can actually feel my tailbone which I've never had been able to do before.

Before Pregnancy I was 133, currently 124.  no pooch right?  WRONG!  It still drives me nuts. and I"m so tired of working out all.the.fricking.time.  LOL.  I got up to 209 when I was pregnant with DD.  All I can say is cardio, weight train, eat clean.  that's the only way.  I've went from a size 14 when pregnant , back down to my size 4:)  but when i sit down on the toilet I look down and my belly looks like a deflated balloon.....it's ok, I really don't mind it, I think I look hot again. and I"m pretty sure I will be sporting a bikini this summer pooch or not.  I just need to get my hernia fixed, because that's starting to give me a complex now.

So I already comment, but this is pretty much me to a T.  Except the hernia and the weight - I was around 176 pre-pregnancy...highest topped out somewhere around 210 when I first returned to work I was in the 180s and now I am in the 130s.  The loss noted in my ticker is going back to when I started utlizing MFP...I think last May.  Some people have mentioned that I've lost too much weight, but my BMI is right smack dab in the middle of 'healthy' and I do have that disgusting doughy pooch (some days not so bad).  Actually, I am surprised that I continue to lose (although it has slowed down) because I have really been hitting the weights and working on strength training.  Someone else mentioned 'no excuses'...That is something I now follow, because trust me I had an excuse for everything.  And I push myself in the gym more than I ever have before in my life.

  • I hear ya! I am a 00 and a size 24 in jeans, unless I can find a 23 and I have a small pouch of loose skin. It's really low, about an inch or two below my belly button. I can usually hide it under a bikini bottom when I wear them, but I know it's there and it's gross.

I continue to loose as well even though I only work out now 3 times a week.  I guess I'm still eating right and maybe that's why.  My goal weight was 135 and I'm 9 pounds below that without trying too hard like i was.  I've been doing ab ripper x religiously

  • To get rid of the mommy belly aka pooch, you need to work your transverse abdominis (your 'TVA'). Do NOT do crunches, especially if you have diastasis recti.
