Okay, so not ALL old people are stupid, but I almost gave this old biddy at Costco the what for this morning. If she hadn't been 102 I may have let her have it.
DS was (IS) in a foul mood today. We had to leave playgroup early because he kept melting down but I took my chances and went to Costco because it was right down the street. He did pretty well while we were there but started to lose it when we were checking out. He wanted out of the cart and tried to hit me when I wouldn't take him out so I gently held his arms down and said, "I'm sorry you are angry but we don't hit." So, kid went for his signature head butt move and smacked his mouth on the cart.
Cue the blood and tears. I grabbed him out of the cart and asked the lady working there for a paper towel. The older couple 2 carts behind asked what happened and I told him that he head butted the cart. Then the snatchy old lady behind me said, "and now he just feels stupid." Yes, that's it. Thank you for letting me know THAT's why he's crying. It's not because he's 1 1/2, tired and frustrated. It's because he's developed a remarkably early sense of shame. Maybe I'm just overly cranky and pregnant but ooooooh that lady made me mad!
Re: Stupid old people.
Ps. I saw a commercial for a "help I've fallen and I can't get up necklace" the other day. It's still funny.
Stupid old hag.
Oh wait, did I say that out loud?
Stupid old hag anyways.
