tiny red dots after vomiting from m/s

I thought I was doing so well. I hadn't thrown up in over a week, but today while I was in the shower I all of a sudden got very nauseous and threw up in the shower. My husband shortly after the incident noticed i had tiny red dots on my eyelids, cheeks, and chest. They don't itch and aren't raised. I did some research and I think they are petichae. They are supposed to go away after a couple days and are broken blood vessels from the vomiting. Have any of you ladies gotten these too?

Re: tiny red dots after vomiting from m/s

  • Yes that's exactly what they are. I have gotten them on other parts of my body when I run into something or bruise myself. Yours are from pressure i inagine. As the PP said, they resolve in a couple of days on their own.

  • Yep! I tend to get a few around/under my eyes. Usually it's when the act of throwing up is more violent...at least for me.

  • I didn't get those but I did break a blood vessel in my eye vomiting.

    Oh, the joys of pregnancy!

  • I lucked out with morning sickness (so far) but in the past when I have puked I get them.  There is so much pressure on your face when you're heaving, the blood vessels pop.  Mine usually faded a lot by the end of the day and were gone the next.

Ditto. I always get them all over my face whenever I vomit. They disappear on their own after 1-2 days for me. When I gave birth to DS, I had a TON of red dots all over my chest, completely covering my face too, from pushing.

  • Yes, I had a violent vomiting incident last weekend and broke many blood vessels on my face - it was so bad that I was bruised all around my mouth.  It literally looked like I had a five-o-clock shadow - eek!  Thank goodness for makeup!  Everything faded in a few days.

  • During an unfortunate incident on my honeymoon involving unlimited champagne and very rich food I experienced this.

The violence of vomiting can cause blood vessels to burst. It looks gnarly but you are fine.

You can also get them during labor from the force of pushing.
