Re: What are you reading?

  • Currently Reading: Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Last book read: Around the same time I finished The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Next Up:  City of Glass and probably The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen (recommended by a friend)

Any recommendations?  Any of the above, so far.  Always The Hunger Games, and the Divergent (Veronica Roth) books and Delirium (Lauren Oliver) books. Also, Unwind and UnWholly by Neal Shusterman, and the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. I also loved If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman.

I probably will eventually since everyone said it was good. You may convince me yet ;)

  • Currently reading The Outlander Series. I really like them so far, getting ready to start book 4.

Just read 11/22/63 by Stephen King before starting Outlander and it was one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Next up...planning to read Girl Gone and The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny.

  • Currently reading The Light Between Oceans by M.L.Stedman.  It's quite good.  The words are lyrical.  I am enjoying this book, taking my time with it (usually I read a book in a day).  I chose this for my book club for November, but then the waiting list at the library was LONG.  I literally just got it!  So I faked the book club discussion and I'm only now reading it.  I can't talk to anyone about it b/c then they'll know I faked the discussion, haha!

Last book was Whistling in the Dark by Lesley Kagen.  It was for a book club.  I didn't love it.  I read it in 1 day.  I felt like there should have been more character development.  Some things happen in the book and I didn't even care, even though they were really sad.  It will be good for discussion though.  Sadly, I purchased this book based on the previous month's debacle with the waiting list at the library, and I don't even want it anymore.

Next up: whatever the book club chooses for January!

I know, I doubt I will have it read by the 15th. But this way, I will see what everyone has to say about it and then I can decide if I really want to read it. Though I probably will at some point anyway, just because I am curious.

I have heard very mixed reviews. Seems like some people absolutely loved it, and some absolutely hated it. Kind of makes me want to read it to find out which I am ;)

I'm about two thirds in, and I kind of want to stop because I know that the worst is about to happen. I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle it... That's really not helping you, I'm sure, but since I can't remember a time when I stopped in the middle of a book, you'll get a full review from me later.

  • Currently Reading: Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher -- It's book 7 or 8 of the Dresden Files, which is a really fantastic (I mean it. It's so so so well done!!) fantasy/horror series.

I'm also in the middle of Still Missing, which we're all talking about. I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Last book read: Previous Dresden Files books... My husband's been bugging me to read them for a while, so I've been pretty focused.

Next Up:  Even more Dresden Files!

I will be getting The Name of the Wind and the book after it pretty soon. I can't wait to read the second one. The first book...I think I could read it over and over and nothing else and yet be satisfied. I have not come across a book so well written in a long time.

Any recommendations?   The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss -- everyone should read this book! It pulls you in and sings you a song that you never want to stop listening to. It is so hard to put this book down!

Also, as previously discussed, you should read Ella Enchanted!

And if you don't mind a little gore (it's really not that much in proportion to all the other stuff going on), try the Dresden Files! It's a long series, and each successive book gets a little more awesome!

I will read it, you don't ever steer me wrong, that's for sure!

Also, I highly recommend Under the Never Sky especially because the second one just came out! But I did buy A Monster Calls too, kind of waiting for the book club though, I know someday we will read it!

  • Currently Reading: 11/22/63 by Stephen King

Last book read: Struggling to finish Steve Jobs, Night Circus and In the Garden of Beasts. All three of them have really just hit a wall with me.

Next Up: (2)  Still Alice  and Culture of Fear, along with a bunch of required reading for work.

Omg I read all 3 books in like a week, even with putting in like 60 hrs at work. I was so addicted, and they're totally not my normal genre.

  • Currently Reading: my DH bought me this personalized romance novel for Xmas. You enter in people's names and choose a plot and it generates the book and ships it. It's totally cheesy and ridiculous, but I think it was a surprisingly sweet and thoughtful gift from the hubs. It's called Click For Love. Ha. Haven't gotten to any of the juicy parts yet, but DH read half the book in one night trying to find some.

Last book read: hot Mahogany by Stuart Woods. Mystery. Entertaining and fast-moving. Easy read. Not especially well-written but good enough.

Next Up:  another Stuart Woods book, Loitering With Intent. Another mystery.

Any recommendations?  Just read Devil in the White City. Im not a huge history fan, but it was really interesting. It follows the building of the Chicago Worlds Fair, which also coincided with a serial killer's exploits across the country and culminating in Chicago.
