1st bday

Has anyone started planning LO bday party? What are your themes going to be?

Re: 1st bday

  • Yes I think we are going with a Minnie Mouse theme. I just started planning it, but we just got back from Disney and it seems like there's a lot of ideas on Pinterest for Minnie.

  • Yes, we are doing a fishing theme. There are tons of ideas out there. I am so excited for it. We are inviting like 30 adults or so and six kids but I doubt it will be that large.

  • We were going to do Minnie Mouse, but she is obsessed with all things Mickey and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - so now it's going to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

  • I have started to plan her butterfly theme party. I just gotta get my butt in front of teh computer at night and pick pictures for her invitations.

  • Very small party, but I still want it to be cute. I originally thought "Monkey," because everything has been monkey with him, but now I'm leaning toward dinosaur or monster.

  • Not sure if we want to do Captain Kellen a nautical, beachy, fishing, pirate theme or go adult and celebrate the following week and do a mexican bash on cinco de mayo. Thoughts?

  • Since DD birthday falls on a Sat, we are thinking of doing a bar b que in the backyard. Small & low key. Might do Mickey Mouse club house or Princess theme....

  • We're doing dinosaur. Same as his room....you know, once we set up his room and move him lol. I'm excited, though, I've started planning favors and a menu and all that already :)

  • I'm still deciding between a "Look Whoo's Turning One" theme, or a "You are my Sunshine" theme.
  • We are doing a Very Hungry Caterpillar party! I have just started planning (and pinning ideas on Pinterest!), but I am very excited!

  • Stupid question: What are you all doing with this theme? My theme will go as far as to the plates, napkins and cake. I don't really plan to decorate a whole lot, and I'm definitely not giving out favors. Excuse my ignorance.

. Besides decorations and cake themed games and activities for the older kids and adults like treasure hunt or gone fishing, themed foods like walk the plank hot dogs and throw me a bouy burders or starfish and chips. Stuff like that. We do plan to do favors though little beach pails with fishies and a shovel, beach stuff.

  • Our daughter, Allison's nickname is Allie-gator so it's going to be an alligator/swamp theme with green and pink...

Table decor, a banner, an outfit, a watermelon carved like a t-rex head (saw on Pinterest, looks easy enough), a cake, cutesy food names like pterodactyl wings and bronto sliders. I'm thinking of having a dino dig sensory bin for the kids or making dino eggs for them to break (also Pinterest). And if I get really ambitious I want to make amber soap for favors....it looks like the amber from Jurassic Park with a little fly in it. Plus some kid friendly things, of course.

For DD's fairy party we did a tea/garden party kind of menu and fairy cupcake favors. She wore a tutu dress and wings. For the farm one we had classic BBQ food, but I did some other Pinterest-y things - pretzels dipped in yellow chocolate and made into chicks, orange chocolate dipped strawberries made to look like carrots. The favor bags were little farm animal stress balls, bubbles, and a big book of farm stickers. She wore a denim dress and pink cowboy, DS had an outfit with a cow bib and tail on the pants.

Birthday parties combine two of my favorite things: cooking and dressing up my kids, I probably do a bit more than I need to at this age!

  • We are doing a joint birthday party with E's BFF (born a week apart - his older brother is H's best friend and his mom and I are really good friends). Since it is a bigger party due to this, plus that there will be a plethora of 6 year olds there, we are having it at My Gym. It's an airplane theme - we are using that tor the invitations, a few decorations (not much you can do at My Gym for decorations...), cake, and what the boys will be wearing :)

Those sound like amazing ideas! As I continued to read though, the panic in my chest grew stronger and stronger. The last sentence made me feel a lot better though.
