Hello ladies, this is my first post, I used to lurk on this board when I was planning to go for VBAC. I decided to post this to hopefully help someone struggling with the fear of VBAC. I had so many concerns before I went into labor about whether or not it was worth it to try for VBAC, I am here to tell you that it ABSOLUTELY is worth it. I had all the odds stacked against me when I went into labor this time ( water breaking as first sign of labor, large baby who was also posterior) after about 10 hours of labor (I had an epi, with my first I went med-free until my CS) my OB came in and said, "I think you should start considering the CS. She is posterior and really big" I started to cry and my nurse (my WONDERFUL nurse) said to me, "lets keep pushing until they drag you out of here!" She had me turn on my side to push and after 5 big pushes she turned and started to descend. 20 minutes after my OB had come in to say that I needed a CS she was called back in because my baby was coming out! My girl was born at 9lbs 10 oz, I had a second degree tear and my recovery has been so much better than it was after my CS. After she was born, I nursed her, then I was able to eat breakfast and walk around! It was amazing! I only took pain meds for 2 days and didn't need them after that. I was so lucky to have an amazing nurse who worked so hard with me to have a successful VBAC, I never could have done it without her, I can't imagine what would have happened had I not had such a hard working nurse. I was so disappointed with my OB's lack of support. Anyway, this long post needs to end...my main point is to not get discouraged if your baby is predicted to be big or the circumstances are not ideal, don't give up! good luck ladies!!
Re: Successful VBAC 9lbs.10oz baby
Awesome story. Having an advocate is such a wonderful thing! I think my first birth would have been a totally different story if I had a nurse like that.
Congrats!
