Anyone know anything about Irish Oats?

Are they different than steel cut oats? What recipes can you use them in? Can I sub them in recipes that us regular oatmeal somehow?

I went a little over board at the health-food store...

Re: Anyone know anything about Irish Oats?

  • Irish oats are just steel cut oats from Ireland.

  • Steel cut = Irish oats

It wouldn't work to sub them for regular oats. Irish take much longer to cook but they are really tasty and creamy when done right. I put them in a crock pot overnight so I don't have to deal with constant stirring. I make a big batch on Sundays and package into small tupperware for the coming week's breakfast.
