My daughter is two weeks old today and she sometimes coughs. Its not a bad cough at all and only happens maybe twice a day. Nothing else seems wrong, she is not fussy, does not have a fever, eats well. I wouldn't even be concerned if everyone wasn't telling me to watch out for coughs.
Of course I googled it and just get all these horror stories of whooping cough and babies. Great way to make you cry. Everything that turns up says coughs are not normal in newborns.
She has an appt for tomorrow so I'm not asking if I should take her in. What I do want to know though, does your baby EVER cough? I'm curious if it's really true that newborns don't cough unless sick.

Whooping cough is horrible and for sure not a "small cough" babies cough and cough and cough and can't catch their breath. Don't worry mama!
My baby coughs sometimes, usually around feedings, but infrequently. Do you have animals? Do you use scented detergent (even in your clothing)? What about perfumed soap? She may have a bit of an allergy to something, or she may just have a scratchy throat
I wouldn't worry about a little cough unless she seems to have trouble breathing.
