I am a little late on writing this but Olivia Candace was born December 20 at 6:41pm. I was induced 3 days early due to hypertension and was nervous because I really wanted to give her a chance to come naturally. We went to the hospital at 6am and they started pitocin at 8am. I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. The contractions were really painful about 2 hours later so I ended up getting an epidural even though I really wanted to wait until i was 5cm, it just hurt too much.Her heart rate dropped when my blood pressure dropped after the epidural so they made me get on all fours and her heart rate went back up.

I did not progress for awhile until they broke my water which pushed me to 7cm. We waited for awhile and then finally at 10cm, I was ready to push. The doctor knew she was a big baby and did not think I would be able to deliver her so she told me she might need to use vaccuum extraction and a c-section if that did not work. Her heart rate was also varying so they use a scalp electrode which was helped show her heart rate was normal. Once I heard all the risks, I decided to push with all my might and things finally progressed and she was born naturally. She had a little meconium so NICU came in but she came out crying and got a 10 on her apgar at the second check. She was 9lbs 5 oz and 21 inches. So overall the labor was about 10 hours and things turned out pretty good! I love reading about everyone's stories so I just wanted to add mine
