Hey Ladies. I had the Mirena IUD placed 2 weeks ago and now i have horrible acne!!! I read it can be a side effect but cmon im not 14 yrs old its horrible! Anyone experience this?
I've had the Mirena for 6 months now and I haven't had a problem with acne (knock on wood). How long have you had the Mirena, maybe your body will adjust.
I just got mine last week!! I'm really hoping I don't get this acne business....I've had horrible acne off and on fom my teen years and I'm not trying to relive that now!
I had a really bad time with Mirena - I had it for 2 years before we took it out to TTC. We finally figured out it threw my hormones out of whack (no more progesterone for this girl!). I had UTI's and yeast infections all the time, couldn't lose weight like I usualy could, and to top it off, my libido plummeted. Only 48 hours after I had it taken out, I can't describe it...I felt like "me" again. All of the above just stopped. After little man was born, I went with Paraguard because it doesn't have any hormones in it at all. So far so good.
Just keep an eye out for that kind of stuff. Like PP said, I'd give it a little while. Give your body time to adjust...maybe a month or so? I dismissed my symptoms as stress-related or just sucked it up at times...never made the connection until Mirena was out of my system.
