I keep hearing about how bad the flu season is this year and it got me thinking that DD should probably get a flu shot. DH called the pedi yesterday and they offer flu shot clinics but of course all the times are mid day during the week when we have to work. I looked into the minute clinic at CVS and they offer flu shots to toddlers 18+ months. I think DD should get one, DH is hesitant. What did you all do??

Re: Did your LO get a flu shot?
Yes.
DH, DD and I all got them. If you're wary of the shot, there's also the mist.

no we were suppose to get it yesterday, finally went to 2 year appointment and they ran out at the doctors office. They offered the mist but there were so many restrictions such as not being around pregnant women, infants and others with compromised immune system.
My DD is a little sick now so i may get it when she feels better at CVS
No.
My daughter has an egg allergy and it was recommended against her getting it.

"The type of flu that is going around is called H3N2, which is often linked to more serious disease compared to other flu varieties, Fauci said.
But there's good news: That type of flu matches up well to the vaccine that is being distributed and given out throughout the United States."
Yes. DS is too young to get one, so DD, DH, and I all got them, and I made sure the grandparents did as well.

No, and we won't be getting one. Does anyone else wonder why the flu seems to be worse and worse every year, even though more and more people get the flu shot? 75% of the people I've spoken to this year don't even know what it's for. What I mean is, they think it's for the rotovirus "stomach flu" and it's not. I just wish people were more informed.
Adoption made our wish come true 12.21.11~JEC 11.10.10
Surprise BFP on 03.26.16! EDD 11.28.16
We didn't get it either. Instead I give my kids Elderberry Syrup every morning and they eat right and take a multi vitamin and get lots of vit D. I believe you should allow your children to build immunity to the flu viruses naturally
Sorry but you must know a lot of not too smart people. I have never met anyone, or very few maybe that I wasn't aware of, who thought it was for a stomach bug and certainly not "75%".
And no, I have not wondered why it gets worse when ppl are getting the vaccine. It's natural flow of disease and new strains come around all the time- back in 1918 millions died from a super virulent strain of the flu, was it b/c too many ppl got the vaccine? This year flu peaked early, coincided with holidays & ppl congregating inside, esp in bad weather. It's a nasty strain this year. What's your theory here, out of curiosity? Do you also wonder why pertussis is having major outbreaks around the country? Pretty sure that is NOT because more ppl are getting vaccinated, quite the opposite.
To each their own on vaccinating themselves & their family but this is a pretty unsubstantiated response.

Pretty huge vaccination rate for November, 35% (??). The increasing numbers are more in recent weeks when ppl have started to panic that they didn't get it before the season started & got bad. Maybe if more had gotten it before December, we'd have a better situation now...hmmmmmm
