Vent and Rant...read at your own risk! :)

So our DME just called me to say that our GI would not approve the 2013 prescription for DD's feeding supplies because the last time they saw her was in April.

Ummm...they were the ones who said we only needed to see them yearly unless something changed.  Yet, they tell my DME that they won't approve the f-ing prescription without a "more current appointment."

So now, I sit here with 6ish weeks to go before DD2 arrives, have a schedule full of OB appointments (which I am sure is about to be more since I have a feeling they are going to want NSTs since I have GD) and NOW I have to find time to get on the GI's schedule because DD cannot go without this prescription.

So I call and guess what.  I get the idiots at the answering service who take all my info and then tell me...since your child is on an annual schedule, we cannot help you.  Call back at 1:30.

(insert immense head banging now).

Don't tick off a pregnant woman...this phone call to the GI at 1:30 is not going to be pretty.

  • I'm not a big fan of our current DME company.  But, we've never run into anything like that.  I would be livid... at the DME company as well as the Doctors.

I wonder if the DME company can send you out a small box of supplies (a week or so worth) at no charge... just until you get to see the GI.  Our DME does this sometimes.

  • Sounds like lots of us have had things pop up to piss us off!  I had my own DME issue this week, but it resolved quickly and thankfully in my favor without fight.

I hope you are able to get things worked out and that the 1:30pm call was good vs bad.

  • For the uninitiated - what's a DME?

Durable Medical Equipment.  It is a medical supplier.

I'm not upset with the DME...it isn't their fault and I appreciate that they get the approvals for me.  It is the GI's office that is at fault.  I have an appointment for this Friday so the prescription issue will be resolved, but the GI s going to get an earful.

Auntie...what a cluster!  Don't ya love how no one wants to take responsibility?  Runaround a drive me crazy.

but hey, on a positive note, I had a quick and easy OB appointment today and there was no talk of NSTs (yet), so that was good.  He also thinks that the baby has turned head down which conforms my feelings.  I have a growth ultrasound next week.  It won't be long!!
