Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Already thinking about summer!!!

This summer is going to be AWESOME!!! I am already looking forward to this summer, getting outside in my garden, going up to the lake for relaxing weekends, DS's birthday party at home and at the lake (lots of friends up there), camping....it is going to be amazing!!! DH and I are already looking at how to baby proof our RV, what to do for DS while we are outside and all that good stuff. I'm just so super happy!!! I just had to share with someone!

Re: Already thinking about summer!!!

  • Im most excited about camping!

we bought a pop up a few months ago and I am so excited to go! (I usually don't like pop up's, but I figured with a baby, it would be better than a tent till he is at least a few years old... that way if it gets too hot one day, we have a source for a/c)

  • Yes, I think I am too JAP!! we have a 31' 2011 travel trailer that sits up north in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan on a lake. It is so nice to go up there and just hang out, go fishing, enjoy the frogs at night....just amazing. We are talking about hooking on to it and dragging it up into the U.P. (Upper peninsula) to see the Porcupine mountains, maybe Copper Harbor and a bunch of other landmarks up there. I've lived in Michigan my whole life and the whole U.P. is uncharted territory for me so it will be quite the adventure...hehehe!!! :)

  • I wish we had cool stuff like that... nope... man made campsites here in eastern Nebraska...

we are thinking about doing a family vacation to Estes Park, CO though sometime in June/July....

  • Awww...sometimes it isn't about the places tho. It is about who you are with and we both have awesome reasons to just hang out for no good reason!!! :) Late nights, s'mores (with reeses peanut butter cups mind you...YUM!!!) listening to crickets, catching lightening bugs, swimming in the pond and stepping in muck, fishing, early morning coffee outside in the cool air wrapped in a blanket either with the hubby or DS watching the campground wake up. It is those little things that make it so worth it. The places are nice, but those things mean more. :)

  • very true... I love waking up early wrapping up in a blanket and drinking a coffee listening to the birds wake up and start chirping...

just doing it with a beautiful mountain backdrop would be much better than the convenient stores and gas stations and rail road tracks right on the other side of the tree line haha...

I'm from Michigan too - and camping is by far the best thing to do in the summertime. I have the best memories from when I was younger camping in Pentwater/Ludington area (not the U.P., but up north a little ways.. lol!)  I haven't been to the U.P. ever.. I can't believe I haven't, because I've been here my whole life as well. But I've heard it's beautiful!

I love the early mornings too.. the air is just crisp, and the smells, and you get that feeling. I always call it "that" feeling - it's the feeling I used to get when I was little, and I was overwhelmed with happiness and life. :)  Love it.

I was just wondering about this the other day. I would like to have a garden this summer, but I don't know how to keep DS safe and occupied while I am working. Is there an alternative to taking his PNP out in the yard?

I was wondering the same thing! Looking forward to the summer as well and wanted to do a vegetable garden, but I wonder how much time I'll have to put into it with a 1 yr old! What will you do with lo while your working in the garden?  Also do yall use fertilizer and/or pesticides when growing your own garden?  We tried a few years ago but bugs got us by the end of summer! (We're new to this) :)

Babybear your lo is adorable -havent they gone so much!!

  • Me too. I wish I could take LO outside more but it's just so cold. Hate be cooped up in closed window house!

Thanks Kaybee!!! And yes, I can't believe how much these kids have grown up already. Scary and it makes me a little sad.

As far as the garden goes, the only thing I really use in the garden is miracle grow. Other than that, I use epsom salts, dish soap and a variety of other typical household items to keep bugs at bay. The only bug I had a problem with was a few tomato worms, but those are easy to take care of. If we have a really bad problem we usually would use Seven, but that is only in extreme infested conditions. And I plan on dragging DS's PNP out in to the yard under the trees while I work. That way he is contained and up off the ground, but still outside with me. once in awhile I will take a break and go play with him, but I think this is the best and safest option for being able to work outside to do general gardening. When the yard/garden work gets heavy or there is a lot to do, Grandma and Grandpa will be getting  a call!! :)

I know, makes me sad too! I miss my newborn but at the same time love the sweet giggly 7 month old we have now! They learn and change so fast!

Thanks, I will have to google organic means of keeping bugs out! I hadnt heard of those methods yet (but like I said we are new at this). My grandpa has always had a garden but doesnt live close. I wish we had trees near our garden spot! I will have to come up with something to have her outside with me :)

If I think of a solution for you for shade I will let you know. Sometimes stuff hits me out of the blue and I'm like "Hey that will work!!" If I get to that epiphany I will let you know...heheheh! :)

  • See, I am the opposite! I am dreading summer! I am in south FL so tempatures can reach 100 degrees! This time of the year is absolutely perfect! It has been 75-80 degrees all week and I am loving it!  We have taken the kids the the theme park, to the beach, and the park this month and it has been perfect out.
