I'm not much of a poster here, more like a lurker. My LO had her 1 year dr. appointment this past wk. She weighed at 17 lbs, 28 in long & head circumference at 16.5in. Let me just say she is a 36 weeker, late preemie born at 4 lbs 1 oz. Her doctor advise me she just under her age group percentile & her head is too small.
He wants to do a CT scan he believes she might have neurological problems. She's on time with her milestones, except physical she is about 1 month behind. I just want your opinions. My mother instincts say that she's fine, she's a preemie.
Re: Head too small = neurological problems?
Just by glancing at the growth chart it doesnt look like it her head circumference is that far behind her weight and height. De your pedi refer you to a neurologist? I would think that having a specialist do a quick assessment may be warranted before doing a CT scan, especially if she is hitting her milestones.
Im sorry you are dealing with this, I know how hard it can be to get news surprising news at well visits.
