On occasion, I will cook a dinner involving a decent amount of prep, many and multiple ingredients, etc. I do cook from scratch soups, stews, chilis, etc.
But...for the most part, I make food. I put chicken on the bbq, throw potatoes in the oven, grill or steam veggies, throw together a salad (I am great at salads).
Every now and then I resolve to cook more creatively, but the effort doesn't seem to pay off unless it is a dinner party for adult guests.
Re: do you cook? or do you 'make food'?
On weekdays I make food. Time is limited. On Sunday I ccok...
I'm a terrible "cook" but I do make dinner/food most days. There really is a difference. I too have made resolutions to cook more, but never do. I just have no interest.
In a perfect world where I have unlimited time and money, I would cook all the time. I love it. It's relaxing and fun and nothing makes me happier than when people enjoy my food.
However, this is not my life. I will cook on weekends if we have time and every once in a while during the week. If we are having people over for dinner I try to cook.
Most of the time with the kids, I'm making food.
99% of the time DH or I make food. Most meals in our house are simple and take less than 15 minutes to prepare.
We only "cook" for special occasions.
This.
Both.
I almost never really cook, I just make food. Sometimes I'm not even good at that!

I'm pretty good about doing everything from scratch. Literally, because we raise most of our food ourselves. I have chickens right now that I need to butcher, cows that need to be milked and then that milk turned into butter, cheese, yogurt. During the summer it's all about the veggies, figuring out different ways to use fresh and preserving for the coming year.
I would say then I always make food and never cook. I have no idea how to make things from scratch, and with the kids being so picky it doesn't seem to even be worth the time. Oh I can make pesto from scratch, but given how fat laden it is not really something I do all the time.
Guess I suck. I blame my mom for never teaching me anything in the kitchen lol

both? I make meat/starch like potato or rice/veggie for dinner every night (besides pasta night/"brinner" night). I mostly make my own marinades for meat with herbs I grow/extra virgin olive oil. I don't follow specific recipes--I just throw together what sounds good in the moment. lol. It doesn't require a ton of prep time/ingredients though.
Do you clean the kitchen afterwards?

I was raised on a farm like this - I loved it and I wish sometimes that I was raising LO that way too!
My best friend thrives on cooking. I hate it. I find it stressful. When I do, it's quite an event, and I expect appropriate recognition. So yeah, mostly I "make food". Or better yet, my husband does.
