Does or has anyone used a La Petite Academy? If so, did you have a good experience? Did you place your child at infancy? Were the child care providers open and receptive to your child's needs/schedule.
We just started DD at a LPA. This week went really well, I love her caregivers and they seem to be miracle workers, getting DD to drink a lot from a bottle (she wasn't taking much before) and take naps! I have heard that not all LPA's are good, so be sure to check yours out and go with your instincts. The center director at our place is so friendly and I feel the staff is very welcoming. DD smiles when I leave her there and when I pick her up! It's reassuring to know that she is being well taken care of during the day.
I haven't used them personally, but many of my co-workers have (two separate LPA locations) and I've heard some horror stories.
That said, I know with other chains, there can be a huge difference between individual locations, so it's worth checking out. But from everything I've heard, they'd be one of the last national chains I'd consider, even though I do get a substantial discount with them through my company.
Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)
My girls are at LPA. Both started around 3 months old. Given that DD#1 just turned 2, we've obvioulsy been going there a while. I've been very pleased. Sure I have had a couple of gripes here or there over the years, but I challenge anyone to say their provider is 110% perfection, 110% of the time!
As another poster said, it is a chain. As with any chain out there, some locations are better and others are not as nice. (you can say the same for your local McD's too, I'm sure). Take a tour of the place (don't call ahead - just show up) and talk to the director and the teachers your child would be with. Use your eyes to scope out the place. See what your gut tells you. They are a big national chain for a reason, but locations will vary. GL!
My DS has been at LaP for about 3 months now and he loves it!
Yes, they are receptive to DS' schedule and needs. DS does not like to nap so they let him play and do other activities. His old daycare had a strict napping and playing schedule.
They also do little arts and crafts with the infants that I think are cute and trigger creative learning.
He is extremely happy there.
All LaP branches are different. We live in Orlando, FL.
I started my DD there at 23 months old. She loves it there. She is learning a ton of new things! I stayed at home for 2 years and decided to go back to work. LaPetite was the best place I found in my area (northern IN). The staff is very nice and her teacher's listen to my concerns and questions. I believe they genuinely care for my daughter. Since my DD was 2, I didn't have a lot of issues with keeping her on a certain schedule or diet, but she adapted well to their nap time and has become a real social butterfly with other kids!
Like someone else said- the differences in locations can make a big difference as we had heard good things about them in general but ended pulling our son out of the one near us as we did not feel our son was properly cared for and were concerned about his safety- he was 1 when he started.
Check online and see if you can find any reviews of your local La Petite.
One of the ones out here made the news for having two bomb threats in a week and not telling the parents that they had evacuated. I almost sent DS to another one. I was filling out the paperwork on what would have been his first day, and a teacher brought a 4 year old in to speak with the director about his behaviour. The teacher playfully knocked the boy on his shoulder and called him a "rotten little monster." I left shaking.
