Sleep book recommendations?

I was curious if anyone had any sleep book recommendations?  After getting up a minimum of every few hours for weeks now (and for what doesn't appear to be hunger), I'm willing to try anything!  I'm not a huge fan of CIO, but I would be willing to try it up to maybe 5-10 minutes. Thanks in advance!

I didn't read any books but just let my LO CIO. Unfortunately with any sleep training, there will be tears..... :(

My biggest piece of advice is whichever method you choose, be consistent or your baby will be confused and it won't work. GL!

    Ditto.

We are on day 5 of CIO and it's amazing how having a routine and consistency has worked WONDERS for our child. It's not right for everyone, but it might be worth a try. FWIW, we started CIO on the advice of our pediatrician, so maybe just check with yours to make sure all is good.

  • I would recommend Solving Your Childs Sleep Problems by Dr.Ferber. Within 3 nights our little one was sleeping through the night, she was waking up 3 to 5 times a night prior. Ferber really deals with issues related to sleep for children of every age.

I wasn't a big fan of CIO either, but his approach is progressive; you might initially only wait 3 min...and this is totally fine! Eventually it will work out!

    Good luck!
  • I got sleep easy solution. My 6 month old never slept more than 4-5 hours without waking up. It was rough. We started sleep east a week ago and she falls asleep on her own and sleeps 11 hours plus,  I like the book to because its easy to read and supportive. Good luck

  • I like "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child."  It's definitely CIO, but the long term gains outweigh the short term difficulty, in my opinion.

  • We have the Sleep Easy Solution as well. We really started at 6mths and then around 7 LO got an ear infection and we regressed with the sleeping habits. Now that everything is back in the clear and he's just now done cutting his top two teeth we're back to our old ways. It's basically CIO. LO only cried for 10min when I put him down for his first nap yesterday. He was asleep in less than 5min for his second nap. He kinda picked up where he left off. Let me remind you there is a difference in screaming bloody murder and just crying or whimpering. We can tell our son is either not tired enough, hungry or hurting when we put him down and he just scream cries right away. Good luck! Make sure you are consistent or it'll be really confusing to them.
