Re: Brag Day Wednesday!

  • Lauren said Bubbles again yesterday! It's what our son first called my sister and it stuck.

And Lauren initiated peek a boo with her EI teacher, who said that is really advanced for 11 months!

  • Lily went 4 days without throwing up.  Her norm is to throw up once a day.  So, it was great to have the 4 day reprieve.  I believe it is a record for ther.  I hope it is a sign for things to come.

  • Grant did really well in OT this morning. He bared weight in all fours with support!

  • More steps in PT yesterday! DS was wearing compression shorts and was able to take 2-3 steps a couple of times. Of course, I still can't get it on video but believe me, it happened!

DS has also started raising his hands upward when you ask him "where did (inset person or object here) go?". It's pretty darn cute.

  • I have 2.

I was shopping online for a Valentine cup for DS and a picture of a flower came out. DS said "Oh my gosh, look at the flower!" I have never heard him say that before.

DH picked up DS from daycare yesterday. And DS said "go get mommy" before they picked me up from work. I missed this one and had to ask DH to tell me twice last night.

  • DS has gotten pretty good at climbing stairs--he's doing a sort of half-crawl, half-upright thing. PT evaluation is tomorrow, and with his progress i'm not sure he'll even qualify! (of course i have mixed feelings about that since i want him to get all the help he can get--but the idea of him not being diagnosed as badly delayed in gross motor is exciting.)
  • After waiting a year and a half for it probably longer adding pregnancy DD said mama!!!

It happens last week but I was waiting to see if it stuck around sometimes she says it in context too. It's nice to hear her walk around saying "mammamamama"
  • Some great brags this week!

A couple of days ago, DD1 was muttering something to herself about apple cores and garbage. I assumed she was scripting and asked her, "What are you saying? What's that from?" She looked at me and said, "You didn't hear that!", totally trying to play it off like nothing. Funny girl.

We had a fun birthday, and a great visit with my mom, who flew in for a long weekend.

  • School started again yesterday after over 2 weeks break. DS2 almost walked into his classroom without being supported (pushed) from behind. He has major anxiety about walking into his classroom and I was expecting to pick him up and carry him in :)  Also he has started saying 'mama' when he wants me, which is new.

As for DS1, has been off his ADHD meds for a few weeks to get rid of the depression, and Christmas break wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Oh, and a friend dropped an 8lb weight on his thumb and he has been super brave about the splint and bandage:)

  • DS has been working really hard on controlling his anxiety lately, and this weekend he came up with a code phrase that we can say to him to help him remember to calm down.  So, now when he's working himself up because someone touched him or changed the rules of the game or his sister is purposely gagging herself to make him freak out, we have to say, "What would Pete the Cat do?"

It immediately makes him laugh, say, "It's all good," and calm down.  I think I love those books:  https://www.amazon.com/Pete-Cat-Love-White-Shoes/dp/0061906220

Perhaps it's a crutch that we'll eventually need to remove, but the fact that he came up with it on his own and it's working is pretty awesome these days.

  • LOVE these!  And Love those Pete the Cat books too!

I'm still glowing in the light of my amazing IEP meeting the other day.  I'm so proud of how hard he has worked and how much progress he has made.  I know we still have a long journey ahead, but damn, it feels good to see the hard work come to fruition.

  • My DS picked up another sign this week (book!) and all of his services have officially started through EI! I am so excited to see what progress he will make now that he is getting the help he needs!
