My new job focuses on computer work. After 3 days of work, I don't know how the heck I'm going to keep up with this shiz. My eyes hurt, my back hurts, and I'm flippin' tired. How do people sit at a computer all day long without going insane (with the exception of the bump, of course).
I haven't been able to bump much from work lately. Sigh. I miss youz guize.
Re: Too much computer
I agree with the ergonomic eval. You might also want to try to get a glare protector for your screen.
Eyes: institute the 20/20 rule- every 20 minutes give your eyes a break from the computer for 20 seconds.
Back: this is why I started my insane water drinking habit. Every hour I finish what's in my water glass, refill it, and then take a bathroom break. This keeps me hydrated, which is healthy, but it also gives me back a short break from sitting and gets me moving a little.
Those are great tips! I've been talking to my new colleagues, and they recommend frequent breaks, stretching, resting your eyes. The ergonomic eval. would definitely be worth the time too. I guess its just going to take some getting used to. I miss my bench science already. I haven't seen a worm in weeks
I do this, too. Give yourself a break once an hour, even if it is just for a quick bathroom break.
