We scheduled our A/S for 2wks from today (22nd) and I'm still leaning toward being team green but we aren't positive yet. But the whole A/S has me thinking about names either way and I thought I'd throw them up here for some feed back, any possible bad nicknames or teasing you can think of would be good too. I put my issues/non-issues with the names in parentheses I guess I want to be thorough
Boy names aren't so much my issue, he would most likely be Samuel Joseph, after my grandfather and DH's middle name (named after his father). But as much as I want to use my grandfather's name, I also really like Maxwell Tyler (MN after DH) and Carter Joseph (or maybe even Carter Samuel Joseph, I'm not opposed to double MNs, I don't think...).
Girl's names are the the toughies for us, majority of these were on our list for M and I'm super picky. (BTW Elizabeth is my MN so I would like to use it for a DD's MN but spelled with an S)
Charlotte Ann or Elisabeth (this was M's "name" for about a month until everyone started shortening it to Charly and I HATED Charly so I nixed Charlotte)
Daphne Elisabeth (LOVE but out LN starts with Duff, pronounced like rough but with a D... oh but I really really love this name)
Lorelei Elisabeth (possible nicknames? I don't like Lori at all. We probably wouldn't use one, but I like to know what other people might automatically shorten it too, I've ruled out a ton of names that way like Addison (Addie), Rebecca (Becky) etc.)
Emily ? (I like this one a ton but I feel like it is a bit plain, especially with Maya as a sibling? Plus all of the MNs I'd use are very common so her name would be super common)
Veronica ? (Vera for short and we would call her Vera)
Vienna Renee
Hallie Elisabeth (Pronounced Hail (like the weather condition) - e, not Hay-lee. I like it because it's a nod to my maiden name and the paternal side of my family who means the world to me. Literally my maiden name is majority of this name, letter for letter haha but I'm worried about people mistakenly pronouncing it like Hay-lee, and I really dislike that name.)
Andddd go!
ETA: DD#1 is Maya Marie
Re: Thinking about names...
I love Samuel Joseph! It's a very powerful name IMO and my favorite of what's listed.
As for girls names, Charlotte is very pretty and on our short list as well but I agree, the nicknames are tough and many people find it hard to spell.
Daphne is pretty but I don't know if its a good idea with your last name. I know this might sound crazy but when I hear DD I think of Ludacris' song with the lyrics "fill cups like double D's" - my sister always thought the DD was referring to dunkin doughnuts, makes me laugh but when I read that the first thing I thought of was bra sizes - I don't know...
Of the list, my favorites are Vienna and Veronica.
I like Charlotte and Elisabeth the best out of the choices. I love Daphne, but your last name may or may not be a deal breaker. I feel your pain, our last name has ruined a ton of names for me.
I like where you're going with Hallie, but you're going to run into the pronunciation thing all the time.
Love your boys names!
Hahahahaha I know what song you're talking about! I've also worried about the double d joke, she most likely wouldn't have them (our genes suck on that front lol) but that could rock her world even more if people teased her in school.
I like Vienna, but something I just thought about was someone forever ago mentioned something about sausage? I don't know if it's a brand but I just remembered that, although I highly doubt any child is going to put that together.
One thing I'm worried about is that all of the girl's names we have seem so fancy, would it be weird having another girl named something like that with Maya's name being so short and sweet?

That is a lot of options. I like all your boy names. Samuel Joseph is my favorite.
Charlotte is getting so popular. It was one of my favorite names until I realized how popular it was.
Elisabeth is great and a classic. I love that spelling. Lorelie could also be Rory.
Veronica is okay. You could also go with the NN Ronnie.
I don't like Daphne.

Possible nicknames could be Rori, Ellie...in reference to first letter or combo of FN and MN initials, and Lore.
The only other name our LN has really screwed up was our original boy's pick. DH's MN is after his father and that pattern is consistent for several generations so we wanted to use DH's name as our son's MN and my grandfather's name as his FN but that would have made his initials STD Yeesh!
Yeah, the pronounciation thing is a killer for me. I've always hated when people pronounced my full name (Cassandra) wrong, I get 99.9% of people calling me CassANdra when it's pronounced CassONdra... HATE IT!
I'm also a big fan of Charlotte. That was on my list for girls names as well. I also like Hallie. I want to give our child my maiden name as his or her middle name.
So if you are worried about people saying it wrong, it actually gets kind of funny. But annoying at times.
I never knew Rory was a nickname or Lorelie. I like Rory for a little girl.
It is on Gilmore Girls anyway, lol.

Oh wow. Lol I don't know how you deal with it! I've always been really good with names, so maybe it's just me but Meredith is something I would never get wrong! (Hahaha then again, maybe that's also because of Grey's)
I like the idea of Rory and so did DH, M was almost Lorelei/Rory(or Rori) but I was worried if it was a legitimate NN or if it'd be a pop culture thing because of the show?
Isn't Rory Lorelei's daughter on Gilmore Girls?

Daphne is at the top of our list for a girl, currently. I honestly don't see a problem with the DD.
I know a 3 year old Loralie, and no one shortens her name.
Yup
That's what I thought. I didn't realize it was a nickname, I just thought it was her daughter's name.
Either way, I love both names. You reminded me how often I thought about naming my baby Lorelei when I used to watch that show.
Vienna definitely makes me think of the sausage which is gross.
I think Veronica is ok. Do not like roni for a nn however. Makes me think of Jersey shore. Daphne I think is hard to do a nn but when I think of double d names I think of Daphne duck. I can't remember what you said your last name sounded like but if it's similar to duck in anyway I would say no go.

It took us until about 32w to come up with a name for DD. This one was easy for whatever reason.
Adrien for a boy or Adrienne for a girl after DH's grandmother. She was such a huge part of his life and they were really close, so I am honored that he would want to name our kid after her.
I haven't read any responses, so I may be repeating someone else.
My friend is using Lorelei for her first girls name, and the nicknames that she mentioned that I thought were cute are Lou Lou and La La. You could also do Lora.
