gender reveal party ideas?

heard about these, and how they have changed a little in the past couple of years, more than just cutting into a cake, wondering if anyone had one and any tips

thanks

Re: gender reveal party ideas?

  • We didn't do a party, but we bought balloons and had them all over our kitchen/dining room so that when my in-laws walked up the stairs of our house it's the first thing they saw. It was fun :)

Can you search "Gender Reveal Party Ideas" on Pinterest? Or, just hope you come across an idea?

  • You can search.
  • My mom took our results in an envelope to the baker and had a cake made. The inside of the cake would have the color icing of the gender of the baby. We had immediate family over and a few friends and once we cut the cake...BOY! It was so much fun. WIth DD we didn't find out - so this was exciting.
Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

  • We are having the exact same party during my 8th month.

Guys and girls are invited. Guys on one side, girls on the other. We have a "warm up" planned to get everyone laughing. The game pins the spouses against each other. Its a little funny. Then we are playing out battle of the sexes for points. After lunch we will be serving cupcakes with pie filling - obviously the pie filling will reveal the gender of our baby. - Also, when our guests first enter they have to cast their vote on what the baby will be, and for each one that gets it right they win a point for their team - in the end it is just giving the winning team bragging rights as I'm not making 50 prizes lol.

We are thinking of having random raffle drawings where the winner has to pop a balloon of their choice - and inside the balloon is a piece of paper that tells them what they have won. This is just an idea because we are not very keen on the popping sound of a balloon. There are other balloon popping games that get the children involved but we have not made any solid plans.

We are struggling with decoration ideas though. We do not want ours to be a girly - typical - traditional baby shower at all. We have thought about doing that for the girls' side because that is what they are wanting (especially the older generation in our family), but on the men side we were thinking about a football theme or something but everything I find just doesn't fit.

This is also just an idea as we haven't thought it completely through - but we were trying to get the men vs women to wager points or earn "food" as different snacks will be on each others table and if the guys want from the girls or vice versa - they have to do something. - - Its a work in progress that may not pan out.

  • We made ours a game! We bought one cupcake for every person and asked the bakery to add blue filling inside one of the cupcakes, since we are having a boy. =) We randomly placed them on a tray and asked everyone to take one. At the same time, everyone had to start eating theirs and search for a colored frosting in the middle, who ever found it got to see what we were having and won a prize. It was quite entertaining. =) Good luck!
  • Well ... what else is there to do besides reveal the sex of the baby?

This is why I don't understand the point of a big party. If you're already getting together with your friends or family and want to do a cake or whatever, that's cute. But planning a whole party around it ... just seems odd to me.

This is what we are doing.  We are having a dinner party with two couples (this is typical for us).  My SSs call them "uncle and aunt."  The gender reveral cupcakes will be more for the boys but everyone is going to play along to make it more exciting for them.

  • We really wanted to have one, but because of some family drama we won't be. We were going to put a spin on the cake thing though. We planned on making cake pops and only dying the center of one pink or blue. The rest would be white cake with yellow and green frosting. We would have everyone bite into the cake pops at one time and only one person would have the pink or blue center. :)

  • We got on etsy.com and bought gender reveal scratch off cards. We are going to have cupcakes with colored icing as well. We will be sharing with our friends in town at our favorite restraunt 1st and then going to our family's house to do the same thing with them :)
