Wants to play @ 3am

The last week DS has been up around3am and just wants to play, I do not know what to do about it.  We stay in his room with lights out, try to just rock him and not let him play, but it has still been taking2+ hours to get him back to sleep.  I can not just let him cRy it out in his crib because as soon as I put him down he crawls to the side of the crib and stands up.  Unfortunately he has not learned to get back down yet, so I have to lay him back down.  That just makes him more upset and he climbs back up again.  Eventually he tires himself out and he goes done, but being up for that long in the MOTN is taking its toll on me.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks

    I could have written this. I met ds talk/play as long as he will. Then he starts crying and wants company. Last night was from 35am. I don't know what to do either other then hope it's a phase.

    DS just started this these past few days... I find if I leave him be and keep quiet, he falls back asleep within an hour or so... I guess this must be a phase if this is happening to a few of us...

    DD stands up in her crib too, and at first she didnt know how to sit back down. She learned quickly though. But she did fall down a few times, bonk her head, cry, get stuck in the crib slats. It only lasted a few days though and now she can sit herself back down from standing. Just gotta let them figure it out : )
