STM's: Help with nursing bras please

How did you go about knowing what size to get/which style would be more comfortable? I have read that you should expect at least another cup size up once your milk comes in. Any advice would be great? I'd like to have at least one bra/nursing top to pack to take with me to the hospital.

 Thanks in advance!

I would recommend just getting a few nursing tanks for now. They aren't as size specific, they're comfy, and easy to use. I used these for the first few weeks with DS#1. I lived in sweats/ yoga pants and nursing tanks. I bought some bras when my milk came in and supply got established.

I bought a few in advance just buying them roomy for cup size. The band was a little tight but the fitting lady said once the baby is out my ribs go down and the band should fit perfect. Well, I never wore them after the fact and have given them away. My ribs never went down, and my boobs didn't really change much (size DD to start).

I ended up mostly wearing a sleeping bra for 99% of the day, day and night. A tight bra is one of the things you wear to decrease milk production (a tip for returning to work) so a loose bra while establishing milk flow is great.

So, my advice is to not go too crazy before your milk comes in and buy all your bras, as you won't know what size cup or band you'll need. Get some loose comfy sleeping bras for sure!

Honestly, I hated nursing bras and they were all much too large for me even after my milk came in (granted I only went up to a B cup). I would bring a nursing tank to the hospital. Target has lots of good ones.

I have had a terrible time trying to find nursing bras = I gave up.   I just went this weekend to a small baby boutique, and found nursing tanks instead.  They seem more roomy and comfortable.  The brand I got has thick straps, and has the clasps in the back to tighten/loosen.

This.  I'm normally small busted but I swelled up to a DD when my milk came in.  So glad I didn't pre-purchase any bras.  I NEVER would have guessed I'd be that size.

I nursed for 19 months and hated nursing bras.  However, I loved nursing tanks and even wore them in the hospital.  The brand I used was Motherhood Maternity.

I love these nursing tanks from Target. I lived in them for months. I've worn a size medium from cup size 34B up to 36DD.

These nursing sleep bras are great too. I need to wear nursing pads at night since I leak a lot, and I like the extra support. The ones in the link run a bit big. I'm wearing a size S at size 36D right now, and they'll stretch enough to fit fine once my milk comes in.

I love the nursing tanks too, but just an FYI - if you plan to go back to work and pump and have a hands free for your pump, it doesn't work real great with the tanks. I have the freestyle and when i use it with the hands free, the tanks aren't sturdy enough and used to end up with milk everywhere - as all nursing, working, STM's know that stuff is liquid gold!!!

Wish I had a suggestion of a good nursing bra but they are all uncomfortable for me :/

Look out baby #3 is on his/her way!

I'm glad to hear this.  I just got measured for one & thought it was too tight but the lady at MM said it was the right size.  Fast forward 3 days...It's still too tight!  Driving me crazy!  Couldn't wait to unbuckle it after school today!!!  Not sure if they'll take it back after wearing it a few days but I gotta get something else!  This is NOT working!
