I have found recently that i have a hole in my heart , It scares me because i am pregnant and i worry something will go wrong at any time. I have been seeing my regular doctor , A high risk pregnancy doctor and a cardiovascular doctor. It's really hard to go through this because i don't think anyone really understands what it feel's like to have fast heart beats for no reason i can just be relaxing at home and BAM! my heart starts beating really fast. I also sometimes feel like i cant breath right and feel like maybe ill pass out. I go in this wed Jan 09 to have a T.E.E procedure done . I am praying that the hole is not big and if it is i hope it is fixable ! .. I just want to know if any other pregnant mom's have went through this ..

I have heard of women having cardiac issues carrying babies to term healthy. I think it might take some work between you and your doctors with lots of monitoring, but I think It can be done. Good luck and prayers for a safe pregnancy.
Sorry you are going thru that.. I work for a cardiologist, I dont suffer from a murmur but ive seen alot ppl who do. It is very common and its something ppl are born with.. sometimes they close as they age but depending on the size of the hole they dont close. Have they done and echocardiogram? A T.E.E isnt a very pleasant test but it would give them the best answers on a appox size. If its small they will more then likely leave it alone and maybe even start you on asprin and see you every 6monthsto a yr. If its big they will then have to fix it surg Where they just go in a patch it. Its a very common procedure. I hope it is nothing serious but if it turns out to be there i suggest you fix it bcause it can cause a stroke in the future.. good luck i am here if you have any questions...
This. I also do cardiac ultrasounds and a hole between the upper chambers of the heart is very common (around 20-25% of people have one). Most people that have one don't know it and never have any problems associated with it. Depending on the size that they found from the TEE they may fix it or just watch it periodically. These holes tend to present more of an issue with people that are in atrial fibrillation or problems other than pregnancy. I know it is scary, but it is very common and your doctor should be very able to take care of any issues that arise because of it. Don't let it worry you too much!
