28 lbs!

Yes, you read that right. That's how big DS is. He's long, too, but he's pretty far off the charts. I took DS in today for his cough and this dr. didn't scold me for having a big baby (we were at a different clinic), but she did suggest slowly weaning him off milk/formula.

  • Wow! I'm glad that doctor didn't give you a hard time. I will now imagine you with bodybuilder arms..

  • He is big, bigger than my ds who is 2 yo. But I am uncomfortable about the doctors advise about weaning him off milk/formula. That should be the primary nutrition until they turn 1 year. How did she suggest you go about that?

Im sure he will even out, once he starts moving around more.

I didn't really mean wean as in cutting it, but more reducing the amount. He gets more than 24 oz a day, in addition to purees.

Softskate, he was almost 30" in November, so he's long too.

Here's a picture of him Christmas morning. You can see how long his legs are.(He was kind of sleepy in this picture)

    He's a cutie!

Unless they were worried about pituitary issues, I wouldn't think anything of his size other than that he is a big boy.  If he were 28 pounds and 24 inches...well, that would be a bit off - but at 90%+ weight and 90%+ height - he is proportionate.

We haven't measured Tommy since his 6m, but he is wearing 18-24m pants and they aren't too long - I bet he is at or just over 30" now too.  I'm not concerned and my pedi isn't either.

    GL!

At his 6 month, the pedi was concerned. Both times we've gone in--for his 4 and 6 month, they've "scolded" me about how big he is. In November, the doctor said if he continued on the same growth by his 9 month, she wants him to get checked out.

If there's a problem, I certainly want to get him checked, but I dread having to deal with specialists and such.
