On New Year's Day, a sweet little shih tzu girl wandered up to my DH while he was out in the garage. She was a few miles from home, a dirty, nasty place where she was forced to live outside without any type of real shelter, shared a dirty water bowl full of dead leaves with 2 other dogs, slept in a dirt hole, and was backyard bred.
Long story short, we have have a new dog. She is oh-so-sweet, our dogs like her, and she is very gentle and patient with DD. She is my little buddy
. We already had a shih tzu and it is amazing how similar they are in mannerisms and habits. The new little one definitely copies Lola
.
Molly (the new dog) is pregnant but in the very early stages of pregnancy. She goes in next week to be spayed and they will take the pups. Sad but the world doesn't really need more stray puppies and we simply can't keep her otherwise.
So, I haven't been around much because I've been quite busy getting our new dog acclimated to our household and vice versa. Just a few drive-by posts but I hope to be back more regularly from now on ![]()
Re: We are a 3 dog household now
Awww I had a Molly once. She was a mutt, possibly a schnauzer or scotty mix. She passed away last year.
So nice of you and DH to give her a good home! What's the deal with her old owner and how did you find out where she came from? It sounds like you really rescued her!
Yes there needs to be more people like you. You did a great thing by adopting little Molly.
Aw, good job. I saw a sign on Pinterest that said "There is Always Room For 1 More Dog". My hubbie would love that sign, I am sure.
Uhhhh, i loathe back yard breeders.
Aww good for you! That story warms my heart! There is a beagle that lives near a gas station my husband goes to; he always wanders around up to the cars but won't let anyone touch him (I told my H to bring him home!) so my husband always goes to buy him water and some kind of snacks in the gas station. We have two dogs already, and I know 3 would be so hard, but I want that little beagle!
ETA: I realize this makes it sound like I want to steal someone's dog; this beagle is very obviously homeless and doesn't belong to anyone.
Jessie, thanks for the advice. She has a blanket and little spot she really likes already that is quiet and out of the way so I will put the blankie in there so she can get used to it as "her" spot. I'll pick up a little stuffed animal for her, too. Poor girl.
No accolades necessary, guys. She is just precious and I'm so glad we have her. We are crazy dog lovers
At first we thought we would rehome her but we just have to keep her. She is just perfect!
