If you are planning on having another baby...

Mobile: If you are planning on having another baby...

Will you lend out your LO's outgrown clothes and your maternity clothes to friends now or will you keep them until you are done having kids?

  • I'm keeping my favorites and consigning or giving away the rest.

  • I hope that DH will come on board with having one more kid. Between now and then I hope my sister is able to have a child, and if she does I will be loaning her as many baby clothes as possible [although I may keep one or two]. Once we are definitely done having kids I will give them away without any expectations of return to her or someone else.

Maternity clothes are a bit more tricky as I am rather petite, so I'm not sure who would be a comparable size. My sister could do the tops, but she's nearly 6" taller than me so the pants are out.

  • I leant out my maternity clothes in between kids.

One of my friends and I each had two kids within the past 3 years and our pregnancies were staggered pretty perfectly, so we swapped/shared a lot of our maternity clothes/nursing tanks, etc.

I also lent a few of my winter maternity clothes (first baby was born in November) to a friend who just had her baby a few weeks ago.

As for baby clothes - I have not leant anything out. I had 2 boys 20 months apart, so we are reusing a lot of baby clothes right now. I'm 90% sure we are done having kids, so now I'm just keeping a few things in each size that I really like and either donating/giving the rest to friends. My BFF is pregnant and due in July, so once she finds out what she is having then I will either give her a lot of my non-favorite boy clothes or I will pretty much give her all of my gender neutral stuff.

I plan on giving/lending her the swing, bassinet, bouccy chair, high chair, etc. I told her that we are not likely to have another kid - but if we do then it will be way after her kid is done using all that stuff, so she can save/give it back to me later.

  • I think if I lend them to someone, I probably won't get them back and I don't want to have to buy everything all over again.  So, no.  I will wait until I am done having kids.

  • I'm keeping everything. I don't have any close friends that are having babies yet so it's a non issue at this point. I would be willing to give away some of my maternity clothes but I am storing all of Owen's clothes by size for the next potential boy.

  • I have no issue loaning friends my maternity clothes and I thought I'd keep baby clothes for number two, if I have another girl, but this weekend I was vacuum packing away my newborn and 0-3 clothes and it made me realise that if I do have another girl I will reuse the basics, but will definitely want to get her new clothes. There are so many adorable baby clothes in the shops that I know I won't be able to resist shopping for her if I have another girl. I would also hate to look back at pictures in years to come and see that baby 2 has nothing but Hayden's old clothes, shallow?! Maybe! No problem reusing toys etc though.

  • As I'm packing her clothes away I am separating them into lendable and not. Anything that I just LOVE is being kept in a storage thing in her closet but playclothes from places like Carters are going in a tub in the attic.

I doubt I'll ever lend clothes to any friends because I have 2 sisters and a SIL. We are all within 4 years of age of each other. Odds are too high that someone else will have a girl even if our next is a boy :)

  • I'm keeping everything I want to keep for future babies.  We have enough extras that I can still pass stuff on to friends!

  • Keeping everything. I don't have anyone who is having a boy anytime soon anyways. But I love all his clothes and most if them he out grew so fast that they're still in great condition if we have another boy. Idk what I'll do if number two is a girl lol.

  • When I hear about someone having a baby a lot of times my first thought is "I wonder if they need clothes" then I remember we might have another and I would feel weird asking for clothes back from people. I think I would for sure share when we are done having kids though.

  • I am keeping most if my maternity clothes.
As for baby clothes,I am getting rid of stained clothing and items that didn't fit or I don't like. My sister is pregnant with a boy. I know she will get a good amount of clothes. She is going to let me know what she still needs after her shower. So I will just fill in what she needs but still keep a good amount.

  • I've already lent out my maternity clothes to a close friend and SIL, which I asked for back. That stuff isn't cheap.

I just finished packing up Madi's NB to 6 month sizes and cried the whole time. While I'm not ready to part with them, friend is having a girl and my brother finds out tomorrow. I kept a few of my favorites and will send the rest on. I am really anal about stains so they are very clean. I know I'll never get them back that way so I won't bother.

  • I offered some dresses to my SIL who is pregnant because she could wear them to work. I got about one wear out of each of them since I wear scrubs to work.
The baby clothes I am keeping. I'm separating the gender neutral stuff from the girl clothes, just in case. Some of the ugly stuff my MIL bought is from zulily and can't be returned, so I might try to get some money at the consignment shop. If it wasn't so tacky, I'd regift it since it's new.
