Carrier/Wrap/Sling Roccommendations for Hip Carrying

I used a K'tan when DD was tiny, and now we love our ERGO when we are out and about, but I feel that she is too little to wear on my back in the ERGO (she is only 13.5lbs at 7 months.) Anyway, she is a high need/velcro kid that demands to be held/carried around. I would love to have a carrier that would position her on my hip so that I can get things done around the house. It is just too difficult to work around her when she is in the ERGO.

So, I am looking for suggestions/recommendations for a carrier that wouldprovide a comforatble and secure hip carry.

Thanks.

  • I've used a ring sling for DD on my hip ever since she was about 7 months. She's 18 months now and I'm 36w pregnant and still use it.

If you're looking for something more like the ergo you could get a scootababy https://www.scootababy.com I've heard good things about it but haven't ever tried it myself.

Thanks for the response. I have wondered about using a ring sling, but wasn't sure if I would be able to use it long term or if it provides enough back support for younger babies in this type of position. Sounds like it could be the answer.

  • I'd agree that a RS is a great option!  I still will pop DS into one occasionally and he will be 3 in May.  He doesn't like to be worn for long anymore...and I don't think I would be physically up for wearing him in the RS for  a long time anymore- but was great when he was younger and is still useful at times now :)
