Opinions on a girl name!

Bevin? It is a Irish female family name that I found out about on my SO's side of the family after talking to his grandma this weekend! I think I might like it!

It is traditionally spelled Bebinn in Gaelic but has been changed by his family over the years to Bevin.

Thanks everyone for the opinions. Keep them coming. I wasn't expecting this name to be loved because I am in the minority in the names I love on this board most of the time but I do love hearing what others think!

I think it would be nice to give SO a family name in our girl choice since the mn is from my family. Our boy name choice has a family name from each side.

I actually don't mind it but, like you, I tend to be in the minority on names I love compared to the rest of the group. I wouldn't necessarily use it myself but would think it was cute on someone else's kid. I like the family aspect too.

I know a Bevin but he is a he so I think it will always be a boy name to me. I've never looked it up before so I didn't know it was a girl name. I kind of like it but for a boy

I think it's just OK, but I actually like it more when paired with your DD's name.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but if you like Bevin-- do you like Beryl? That was my immediate thought when I read your OP.

I actually think I like it! I think it is an interesting spin on Devin for you since it's also a family name.

I remember Bevin being a name on OTH when I watched the show in its first seasons. She was a cheerleader with Brooke and Peyton. I think she might have dated Mouth? I don't remember what she looked like though.

I cannot believe I remember that [hides in shame]. Edit: ok, just looked it up. She dated Skills, not Mouth.

I don't mind it - I tend to like unique names and I love boys names for girls (not that Bevin is a boys name). There is a character named Bevin on One Tree Hill, so I had heard it before and I think the character was named after the actress who played her. I never saw anything wrong with it. I certainly like it better than some of the more popular names now, like Chloe and Olivia.

Now I remember the cheerleader from One Tree Hill, haha! MN is already determined. This would be a FN option only. Thanks for the advice everyone. I really like the NNs BeBe and Bea. I think it goes well with DD's last name. I also like that it comes from SO's side of the family! Bev is another good NN. Hmmm, decisions!
