XP: side effects of antibiotic?

DD has another double ear infection. The last one she had was a month ago and they put her on Amoxicillian (sp?) and she did fine with it. No side effects at all. Well they put her on a stronger one this time around Augmentum (sp?) and she had her first dose this morning and I checked in with daycare and she was hyterical crying in the background (not like her at all). They said she's had two loose poopy diapers and she's been super fussy all morning. She only took 5oz of her bottle which is also unlike her. Anyone have issues with Augmentum? I have a call into the dr to see if she just needs to deal with it or if they can change it to something else. I feel so bad. Trying to get out of work early so I can just cuddle her.

The pharmacist may have more information on what's normal. Did they give her any pain meds?

Whenever we give antibiotics we also give a probiotic to prevent any stomach issues. Maybe your pedi can suggest that.

Augmentin was terrible for my son. We had to start halving the doses after the pedi approved. Everything you described.

My 2.5 year old was just on Augmentin, and her stools were extremely loose. My pedi suggested giving her a probiotic throughout the course of the antibiotic.

my first dd was alleric to keflax (cephelaxin) and had a severe reaction to it. She had to avoid that whole class of antibiotics. We chose to have DS stay away from it too. There are so many different drug reactions, it can be sooo frightening. Hope the dr. will change her meds! - oh and DD#1 was also prone to ear infections and seem to get a yeast infection with EVERY antibiotic
