I started running in my Merrell Pace Gloves in June. I wore then 100% of the time from day one, and I had a really easy time transitioning into them. I had a mild calf strain a couple months after I started wearing them, but other than that, my stride seems to agree with minimalist shoes.
During a run last week, I started feeling a dull pain in my upper outer ankle region (maybe peroneal tendon) and it got more painful throughout the day until I could barely walk. After wearing a brace and icing 2x/day, I can walk fine now, but I feel pain if I turn my foot in a weird way. I am going to take at least the rest of this week off, but I am thinking I should switch back to my Asics 2170s when I start up again.
Do any of you pregnant ladies run with minimalist shoes? Do you think it's best not to wear them with the weight gain/ unbalance of pregnancy? Or is it just coincidental?
Re: "barefoot" running while pregnant (injury)
I do not run with minimalist shoes but I would at least switch back to your Asics while pregnant. The body changes so much when pregnant in ways that we don't even realize. I would think you would need more support.
Good luck running hope you are healed soon!
