Cramps....

Anyone else getting cramps? I did not do anything strenuous or anything. I had my baby shower yesterday. I drove two hours to get there and hung out for hours after just sitting and talking. Then went to babies r us for some things. When I got back to my parents my feet hurt and I had cramps. They feel like period cramps. Just continuous. I drove the two hours back home today and have been laying down since I'm exhausted. So I was busy but not doing anything strenuous or anything. Cramps havent gone away. She is kicking and flipping like crazy on there. Anyone else having cramps??? I'm 31 weeks today.

Re: Cramps....

  • I'm 31w1d and no cramps here.  Is it possible you are dehydrated?  It probably wouldn't hurt to call the doc just to see what they say, especially if they have been consistent for a while.  GL!

  • Could the cramps be gas?

  • Ditto PP. It could be dehydration. Drink lots of fluids, but you should be safe and give your doctor a call.

  • I've been having period-like cramps lately.  They don't last too long.  I notice them more at night.

  • I have a few times, but it always turns out to be a little bit of an upset tummy. I was lucky and didn't really have too much morning sickness in the first trimester, but now I've been having a little bit of nausea and stomach cramps. Ick!

  • Be checked, just in case. My menstrual cramps at 29 weeks in my last pregnancy were actually contractions every 2 to 3 minutes apart. Terbutaline stopped them, and hydration and rest prevented them from coming back.

  • I would call and get checked.... Could be dehydration but when I had them recently I found out it was because I had bacterial vaginitis ... Common in pregnancy but needs to be treated
  • I have had some cramping as well, nothing in timeable intervals or anything like that. I would describe it as mild period cramping. I asked my MW and she said it was a type of RLP. She said to make sure I was drinking enough and I could lay down to alleviate them. My bump did go through a growth spurt.

I would definitely talk with your doctor just to see if that's what is going on or if it is something else.

  • Thanks everyone!!
I fell asleep early last night and this morning they were gone, but now they are back and the same constant dull cramping. My whole stomach is just sore in general. I did call and leave a message for them to call me back. Thh haven't yet so hopefully soon!

I googled and that was a really dumb idea so I will try not to do that Anymore

  • Goes without saying you should ask your doctor about your particular situation, but at my appt yesterday I asked my doctor about the ones I was having. Note that everything about my pregnancy has been smooth sailing so except for my age (41) I'm not high risk. She told me unless they were frequent and regular, my uterus is just getting stronger to be prepared. I know this is lay speak for something (BH? RLP?), but she was not concerned at all.

  • I had bad menstrual like cramping the day after christmas.. I called the doc and they had me come in and get checked. The tested for pre-term labor by seeing if i had some protein on my cervix (they just stuck a cotton swap in the vagina and sent it to the lab) - everything came back normal

so they said it was probably just growing pains..  doc said i could use a heating pad on low, take a warm bath, and take tylenol. Did the heating pad and tylenol (im not a bath person) and it relieved some pain.. they lasted about 18 hours...
