Since LO turned 6mo, she is a horrible sleeper at night. Everyone says "just let her cry it out"....it's hard to do that when she is standing in her crib screaming. We tried the "5 min"..."10...15"......shes been getting up 3 times a night now. She needs to learn how to soothe herself back to sleep but she has never taken a pacifier so that's out of the question (tried introducing it again and she just plays with it) We always have the white noise making stuffed animal attached to her crib and she immediately clings to that first thing when we lay her down, but then few hours, if not before, she will wake up. If she were just rolling around in her crib it'd be one thing, but she stands up and puts her face in the camera, like "guys I'm not a idiot, I know you can see me crying".....
What do I do? Are any of your LO's doing this and what do you do to "retrain" them to sleep again. Her pedi said to give her Motrin everynight. Is that really something people do?!
Re: ...& now she won't sleep
Im in the "babies dont need to be trained how to sleep" and "the first year just sucks for sleep" camp. FWIW, my pedi told me about that 3 night thing as well but said most babies arent ready for that until 9mo. Im not commenting at all on CIO. I know it works great for some people but not for us... not just yet.
My LO is cutting teeth and has a cold and has been a little monster to put down this weekend. Ive also heard that their sleep tanks as they learn a new skill. My baby is trying hard to crawl.
When there is nothing wrong at all (which is really freakin' rare between his 1x a month colds, subsequent ear infections, learning new skills, and teething) then he sleeps like a champ.
I also give my baby 2 teething tablets every night and if he is grumpy during the day, I absolutely give him tylenol that night.
All of this...
There is just so much going on in year one. Hang in there! It can't and wont last forever!
I hear you! LO has been a crappy sleeper since 4 months. The last 5 h stretch I got was back in Christmas
I am also a believer that when they are ready they will sleep. DD is working on so many skills now! She says mama,is trying to crawl, working on sitting and pincer grasp all at once.
She is overloaded. I am trying to roll with it. I get 8-10 broken hours of sleep and I am still alive somehow.
It will get better (at least when they go to college LOL).
I believe some babies need more help and more time. I am rolling with it and I know that eventually she'll sleep longer. I am not a believer in CIO, but I think each family has their own way.
Finally, after mastering crawling, getting himself to sitting, pulling up, and cutting his first tooth, he's started sleeping better. I still only get 4 hour stretches on a good night, but I'll take 3 quick wakeups over 5 or 6.
Maybe you feel better ...but i am a working mum and i need to do with waking up 5 - 6 times every night to breast feed my son ... 2 times genuinely hungry...other times, just 1 minute of nursing to go back to sleep ...
: (
Hoping it will get better soon ...
(am too dead tired in night, to do CIO ! ...everyday i plan to do it but at night, rolling over and nursing is so much simpler ! )
