Hey everyone, I am new to the Bump, I just took a HPT yesterday and it came back positive! so to make sure i took 5 more lol. This will be our first child and we are so excited!! I was wondering when you found out you were pregnant what did you do first? I am getting a blood test done just to be extra sure but should my next steps be (besides calling to set up ultrasound)??
TIA as I am clueless. lol
Re: Newbie!
Hi and welcome! Congratulation!! I saw a RE so my situation was different. But my coworker just got a BFP then had to go into her doctor for bloodwork. Unless there is an issue, most doctors won't do an ultrasound til later.
Where in Delaware are you from?
Hi there and congratulations! I have a daughter that is 1 now but I was 4 weeks pregnant when I found out. I called my doctor and simply said "Hey, I'm pregnant" and they had me come in. They did an in office test first and since it came back positive they sent me out for blood-work which also came back positive. Then I changed doctors because my OB wasnt an OBGYN. When I went to the OBGYN he did an ultrasound to confirm how far along I was by measuring the baby and told me my due date was 11/11/11. I had an awesome doctor where they do ultrasounds every appointment to check for heartbeat instead of a doppler so it was super nice to see the baby every month.

Hi there, congrats!
Your doctor should be able to walk you through all the next steps. Usually your first appointment is also a consultation where they will give you the DOs and DON'Ts, what is safe to eat, medicines you can have, stuff like that. They'll set you up with your next appointments and everything. Otherwise you can also join one of the bump Birth Month Boards where there will be a ton of people going through the pregnancy at the same stage you are, and it's always helpful to hear what is happening so you are prepared. Good luck!
