To those second-time mommies or moms who are about to go into labor -
How many of you went into labor before 40 weeks with your first one? My doctor said that most first time moms go at least a week past their due date. I know I'm starting to get anxious and can't wait to meet the little guy, but just wondering what you have experienced or heard?

Re: Babies arrival
My 1st was 4 days late and it was actually the same day and time I was to be induced, lol. My second came 2 weeks early but due to placenta abruption. This one is breech and I'm having false labor. Last week I was contracting every 5 minutes and they were lasting 1 minute. Then all this week my body has been calm.
Most FTMs go into labor later because the body is still new at this, lol. Be patient you will be holding your bundle soon. This coming from someone who did everything in the book to get my first to come before 40 weeks, lol.

I think they tell FTMs that "most FTMs" go past their due date so it's in your head and you don't get TOO antsy. It is pretty normal for first pregnancies to be longer than subsequent ones, but not always a hard and fast rule.
My sister went past her due date with her first, my mom went past her due date with her first, and I was surprised to go into labor at 38.5 weeks with my first. So, I guess we'll see!
Here's a little factoid to refer to:
Your due date is an estimate, it is an average. In the chart below you can see the reality.
In week 38, 2 weeks before the due date, 2 out of 10 women will give birth.
In week 39, 1 week before the due date, 2 out of 10 women will give birth.
In week 40, the due date, 3 out of 10 women will give birth.
In week 41, 1 week after the due date, 2 out of 10 women will give birth.
It is very unlikely that your baby will gestate for longer than 42 weeks. In such cases, estimated due dates may have been incorrectly calculated.

I went into labor at 39w 5d with DS and had him early the next morning. Pretty much right on time.
I had it in my head the whole pregnancy that I would have him a week late so that I wouldn't get my hopes up when my due date arrived. With this one, I can't imagine having her any later than her due date and am going to go crazy if she's late.
Went into labour the day before the due date and had him the following morning - right on time. Punctual little guy - very happy about it I was too.
But was sure I cldnt really be in labour as had been told that most FTM?s go over the EDD by about a week.
Will have to wait and see with this one .
I had my DD at 36 weeks, which was a total surprise for us. Although it turned out great because she was super healthy and we left the day after she was born, no NICU.
Im REALLY hoping this baby comes early too as I am just D.O.N.E! Although, Id only wish that if it is as healthy as its older sis was:)
