Freezing cookie dough?

I have place and bake cookie dough from a fund raiser at T's DC and I love being able to just take out a few peices and bake them. So can I just make a batch of cookie dough loke froma box and freeze it in peices like ice cube trays and use them later? If anyone has ever done this, any tips? Or is this a bad idea?

Re: Freezing cookie dough?

  • Did you have to add any ingredients other than water?  If not, I'm sure you're fine.  If so, it's probably okay, just not sure.  You can freeze eggs (outside of the shell) and then use them so it's probably the same right?

  • Yes. Seal them well.

And now I want cookie dough.
  • Yes you totally can. I would suggest putting them on a baking sheet and freezing the whole cookie sheet (if your freezer has room). If not, once they're frozen, take the lumps off the cookie sheet and freeze in a bag. I'm just thinking that the ice cube trays might be hard to get cookie dough into, and make oddly shaped cookies.
