Kind of a confession/realization

My first DS was a difficult baby.  CRIED constantly,  couldn't handle a lot of stimulation ( ie lights or music on his toys)  By the evening he was generally unconsolable.  We did CIO with him because basicly there wasn't any choice. He screamed if he rocked, held, bounced him you name it. We tried the ferber method and it made things even worse so we did straight up CIO.  So I was always amazed when I would read on here people who didn't do CIO. I just couldn't imagine how you could get away with it.  Well, I now have DS 2. OH MY GOD babies really don't scream and cry all day!  This baby is soooooo easy!  I swaddle the little man rock a bit and wam he is out.  now granted he is only 10 weeks old so I know things change but I seriously didn't know it could be this way.

I just needed to share that because I am still in shock by how different a baby this one is.

Re: Kind of a confession/realization

  • DD #1 was a difficult baby as well.  I swear all she did the first year of her life was cry.  We couldn't do CIO with her because it made the sleep issues worse, but I did eventually find a method that worked.  Things finally started settling down after the 1 year mark.  Then, we found out #2 was on the way and we were scared.  #2 is by no means an easy baby but she's a million times better than #1 was.  There is just no comparison (thank goodness!).

  • This is what I'm afraid of.  DS is the happiest baby ever and I'm afraid we've used up all our good karma on this one.  :)

    OMG, your sig is PRECIOUS!

  • I have to agree, I had no idea how anyone could function without CIO.

Nor did I think people were telling the truth when they said they're babies slept through the night.

But they were and it's incredible the difference!

My pedi said the first kid teaches you about pediatrics and the second teaches you the wide range of normal.  So true!
