Well, when I was pregnant DH got a used baby bjorn for cheap and I got a yummy Girasol WCRS. Turns out, I prefer the bjorn! The RS is just not that comfortable for me, which I hate because I love the coziness potential of it. I know that Bjorns aren't the best so I'm looking for a new SSC, one that is easy to BF in. I also have the option to "try before buying" here in the UK. Looks like the easiest to find brands are Babyhawk, Boba, Beco, Ergo. There is also something called an Emeibaby which I had never heard of before, but is a SSC made partially out a wrap. What is/was the easiest for you to BF in? TIA!
(I also have a Moby, but I feel like it's too stretchy for my liking).
Re: BFing in a SSC? Recs please
I've breastfed in both the Babyhawk and the Ergo and both are pretty easy - the philosophy is going to be the same for pretty much all SSC - you're going to loosen the straps enough to lower the baby's head to nipple-height, and then s/he can breastfeed.
Personally, I adore my Babyhawk. I love everything about it. But I don't know if it's easier to breastfeed than any other carrier.
I've BF in a babyhawk, it's easy, the Ergo is a bit harder to adjust but still easyish (I managed to BF in a museum with no attention called to me).
There is a brand called the Tula which has adjusters at the top where the straps hit the body, the idea is that you have those as tight as they go when you put the baby on and then when you want to BF you don't have to fuss with the straps but just loosen the side that you need access on with the front adjusters. I have the toddler version of this carrier and love it.
The emeibaby carrier has had some great reviews and because of the way it's made will last a long time. I've never tried it so can't tell you how easy it is to BF in but I'd imagine it's the same as other SSC and you just drop the strap longer.
