So Thursday, the first day back to school with students, I woke up not feeling very well. I went into work, and it go worse. I was cramping off and on, my hands and feet were tingley... I just generally felt "not right." I got the school nurse to check my blood pressure. It was 94/50. I have never had it read that low, so I called my doctor and left a message for the nurse to call me back. She did almost immediately telling me that I needed to come in to the maternity ward. Not my doctor's main office, but the place where you go to deliver the baby. I got the school office to page my husband (who works at the same school), and we flew to the hospital. They got me hooked up to the fetal monitors immediately, and the nurse said everything sounded good with the baby. They checked to make sure I wasn't dialated (thankfully I wasn't), and said that the cramps weren't contractions, but rather uteran spasms. The baby wasn't in distress, but my uterus was freaking out anyway. 5 hours and an IV later, it stopped spasming and my blood pressure regulated. They sent me home and put me on bedrest for the weekend. I started back to work today with directions to drink at least 80 ounces of water a day, and sit as much as I can. My wonderful administrator gave me one of the big, comfy rolling chairs from the conference room to use instead of my normal desk chair. Thankfully, everything is ok, and hopefully baby girl stays inside for 8 more weeks!
