insomnia...

What do you all do when you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep for hours?  This has been happening more and more lately and i'm just at a loss.  Sometimes I just lay there and try my best to fall asleep, other times i'll just hit up FB or TB on my phone to pass the time!  Last night I actually saw that one of my pregnant friends just so happened to be up and online at the same time so we chatted for a bit at about 3am lol. I was up from 1-4am this morning.  :(

I didn't do so bad this morning but right about now i'm hitting a wall!  zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...................

Re: insomnia...

  • I am having the same issues. Infact I was up from 1:30 - 4:30 am last night and had to get up for work at 6:45. This is definitely a question I have for my OB. Benadryl works for me but I dont want to take that every night if i dont have to.

  • Sometimes I will wake up every 2 hours and be up for at least 30 minutes. I usually just find the most boring thing possible on tv. On those nights, I usually get up for the day at 5 am.

  • I'm right there with you ladies.  I went to my chiropractor of Friday and she told me to try Magnesium Calcium.  It is supposed to help with insomnia and is totally safe to take while pregnant.  She is a chiropractor/dula.  So I 100% trust her opinion.

  • I get on FB and TB and then I break out the big guns and watch TV... sometimes I lay down while I watch and I go back to sleep sooner. Last night I was up from 3 - 6 and it was no bueno, but the TV is what finally put me back to sleep.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • This is me every night. I'll wake up to pee and/or because of breast pain, and I won't be able to go back to sleep for hours. Sometimes I'll get on Facebook, sometimes I'll read random stuff on the Bump. At first, I would just watch old "Star Trek" episodes, because they would put me back to sleep ... Now I really like it, and I'll find myself watching another one. Now, I'm trying "Frasier," because at least it's droll. Sleep is definitely the thing I'm missing the most.

We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

  • Yes! I have been experiencing insomnia in the last couple of weeks. I am normally a good sleeper. But I have to get up a couple of times in the night to pee and I can't fall back to sleep. I toss and turn. So annoying!
  • I read the news on my phone. If I'm really desperate, I'll read about politics. Does the trick!

  • I drink pure essence ionic fizz magnesium supplement daily. I have for years and did with my last pregnancy. Magnesium promotes sleep and also helps with muscle cramps. My ob said that he recommends women take magnesium for those reasons.

  • This has been me since week 6.  Ugh... I asked my dr what to do and she suggested eating something.  I usually get an apple and much on that while I read on my kindle.  Or, sometimes i'll put on a movie... Wall-e seems to put me to sleep pretty quickly.  I'm getting pretty despirate though, my insomnia has been so bad it's effected my work schedule.  Not good!!

  • This is me. I usually  just lay there because I always want to hope that I'll fall back asleep "any minute" lol But I hear reading will help, so I'll probably try this next.
