So, I had posted last week-ish about DS and his eczema and how the Ped told us to take him to see an allergist.. anyway, we made the appointment and it was scheduled for tomorrow morning.. then, of course, all last week it started to look like it was going away! Thursday the reddness was almost completely gone and they just looked like small dry patches.. so, I said to DH let's cancel the appointment and wait until the 21st and have the Ped actually LOOK at it.. because she was sending us to the allergist based on what I described to the nurse on the phone (just that we had tried what seemed like everything and it wasn't going away and was still periodically spreading).. anyway, so we agreed and cancelled the appointment..
Now, the worst of the eczema was on DS's chest.. like 7 or 8 patches.. and some up over his shoulder.. as of last week I felt it starting on his back, but it wasn't red or anything.. but, I don't often look at his bare back! We bathe him 3x/week and even in the tubby, though I flip him to wash his back, it's a quick process and I'm not really looking hard at it (bad Mommy, I know ).. Anyway, we were playing with him in just a diaper earlier this evening trying to get him to roll.. I flipped him over and his WHOLE back is red and blotchy with the eczema. Ughhhhhhhhhh.
Now I feel like a huge dumba$$ for cancelling his appointment when it's even worse on his back than it was on his front! I tried calling tonight (since the appointment was through a hospital) hoping that maybe they had an answering service scheduling the appointments, but no one was there.. the appointment was for 8:30am tomorrow morning... I was trying to see if maybe it was still an empty slot since we just cancelled Friday.. Argh!
Guess I'll be calling again tomorrow to schedule another one
Re: Ugh, annoyed at myself!
Thanks.. Ugh, so mad at myself! My family kept saying it's "normal" eczema and nothing to worry about, etc. etc. etc. so when it was looking MUCH better I was afraid the allergist was going to side eye me for bringing him in for just a few bumpy dry patches that no longer looked irritated..
Should have never cancelled!
Hey...just remember the PGAL mindset...it's better to look a bit silly sometimes for being overly cautious than to not do something when it needed to be done.
