I can pretty much say that L is addicted to watching Sesame Street videos on youtube. It is partly my fault, but I've been trying to recorrect what I've done by redirecting her to something else (playing with blocks, reading, etc) She is usually pretty good about playing with other things after a few minutes, she forgets about the videos/computer.
The problem is, is that my dad has realized that L is so happy and content just sitting there watching videos, that now it's all he does with her. In his defense, he has a really bad back, and is going to have hip surgery soon, so it's not like he can run around with her and play with toys on the floor.
I really don't like how often she is watching the videos, but I feel bad telling my dad not to do it. It's his time with her, and I know once we move out, it won't be an issue. But for now, it bothers me.
Do I suck it up and wait until we move (which could be soon, we just put an offer in on a house today!), or should I tell him not to watch the videos with her? I guess I just feel bad because there's not much else he could do to spend quiet time with her. I know he could read to her, but at this point, I think it's almost as if L associates my dad sitting down with watching videos.. if that makes any sense.
Sorry this is so long, and probably semi-dumb.. but I was just wondering if you ladies would say something to your dad if you were in my situation.

This, well said LCass.
When do you move?
Honestly, I think I would just be honest with him. Tell him that you don't feel comfortable with her watching that much TV. You can mention some of the studies that back up no/limited TV. I think he should respect your wishes as the parent.
You can give him some other ideas. Like reading to her or really playing with any of her other toys.
These are my thoughts too. If you're going to be moving then don't worry about it but if you're staying longer address it kindly, practically and simply.
I agree. Thanks LCass, you always seem to say things that make sense to me (and I agree with lol)
If the offer doesn't go through, then I will definitely have that talk with him.

Aw, shucks!
Shannon, I forgot to say before that I hope the offer goes through and you don't have to have the conversation at all!
