I don't know why people do things like that. My first name rhymes with a bunch of words and I swear even now in my 30s, people make dumb comments to me.
He will learn to ignore it & you will too.

It is funny what you don't think about that completely annoys you.
DS1 middle name is Wyatt.
Teachers and school friends for whatever reason have always called him Maxy - it drives me batty. It has finally died down. DS2 is Sam and this one lady at Church calls him Sam I Am, bugs me and DS2. He actually told her that was not his name.

That must be so annoying! It's one thing to think it, since we can't really control our reactionary thoughts. But we can control our words... seriously ppl need to keep comments to themselves.
My name's Amanda and I cannot tell you how many times I've gotten 'A-Man-Duh'! And from adults! Seriously... ugh.
GL and hopefully ppl just stop.

Ds's MN is Wyatt and I get that comment too! But it doesn't bug me at all. I usually come back with a good quote from the movie Tombstone and that shuts them up
Sorry the connection bugs you. My name is Laurel and some kid in HS realized it rhymed with oral. Nice, huh? It could always be worse....

I'm a Fiona and I get the Shrek comment every time I tell someone my name. It is a little annoying because everyone tells you it in a way that they think they are the first ones to make the connection.
Don't worry though, after a while you kind of become numb to it. It actually becomes surprising when people don't make the connection lol. I find it best to just agree and move on.

I get Lizzy Borden A LOT!!!! have since I was a kid, which is horrible, why would you call a little girl Lizzy Borden? I didn't even know who she was till way later.
It's sort of charming that people still know who Lizzie Borden is. And Wyatt Earp. I mean, obviously, it is annoying to hear every day, but I'm heartened by this thread.
Wow, that must be really annoying. Sure it is connected to the name but it's also on the rise so hopefully it will eventually die down. It's rather popular where we come from so we have considered it for a second son. We don't hear people draw that connection to often back home.
Not gonna lie, Wyatt Earp is who I think of every time I hear Wyatt.
I also do but I can imagine it would get annoying with everyone commenting. I think there are very very very few names that people don't associate with something, mispronounce, or just get totally wrong. I have a Trent. Not made up, easy enough to spell, not odd. Yet anyone over say the age of 60 I have to repeat it 10 times because they think I said Tent.
Exactly! As a poster above even said her "Sam" was given an annoying nn.

This. Sorry! I can only imagine how annoying that must be for you and your son.
Same. But that must get annoying.
