KitchenAid mixer

Used my kitchen aid a couple times this week, and I am enjoying it.  We used it to shred chicken and that alone was amazing! Also used it for cookies and cinnamon rolls and that also made life easier.  I'm looking forward to trying mashed potatoes with it soon.  Thanks all for the suggestions!

now, a question- My mom keeps talking about how she uses it to make bread and likes using it for bread better than using her bread maker.  If you have a bread maker, what do you think about this? I just don't see why you would take the time to shape the loaf, deal with letting it rise, etc. if you could just throw it in the breadmaker.  Is it really that much better?

Re: KitchenAid mixer

  • I use it for bread, but would use a breadmaker if I had one. It basically does what the dough cycle would do, and you do the rest. I chose not to get a breadmaker because of the extra expense and space it would take up (we don't have a ton of kitchen storage), when my KitchenAid does pretty much the same thing.

  • I have a bread maker and a KitchenAid Mixer, but I rarely use either to make bread.  I have a hand-me-down bread maker, and it is OK, the crust gets a bit to hard for my liking, and the mixing blade leaves a weird hole through most of the bread if I bake it in the bread maker.  Honestly, my favorite bread recipe needs so little kneading, I just do it by hand.
