March 2013 Moms

Add me to the failed the 1-hr club...

I had my 1-hour GD test yesterday (and felt so sick after drinking the orange drink, I felt like I shouldn't be driving to my appointment!), so I have to go do the 3-hour test next week, which I'm not looking forward to. Sad I know lots of you have said you passed the 3-hour after failing the 1-hour, though, so fingers crossed!

And I found out I'm now anemic, so I get to take giant iron pills, too. Although, that might explain why my horrible first trimester exhaustion came back half-way through second-tri and hasn't left again....

  • Ugh, I'm sorry.  :(

  • Sorry to hear :( I am one of those that failed the 1 hour (had a 147) but passed the 3 hour. Luckily for me, I had my knitting with me and was able to finish a scarf!

PS- The first hour was the worst for me. I felt myself get the sugar rush and then crash from the drink, and time was dragging by. After that, I was just busy knitting away :)

  • im sorry! but welcome to the club :)
  • I just took mine this morning and told the lab tech drawing the blood that I hope I pass because sitting around for three hours stinks. With DD1 I failed the one hour and passed the three.

The drink grosses me out. I think it is because it tastes nothing like real juice. It reminds me of that weird punch they used to serve us for classroom parties in the early 80's.

  • I feel ya. I took my 1 hour test yesterday and failed also. By 5 damn points. Now I have to go take my 3 hour test bright and early Monday morning. Fingers crossed for both of us!

They told me that I am anemic also, which might explain why I have been feeling run down and out of breath a lot. Or that could just be run-of-the-mill preg stuff. I guess we will see if the iron pills help. Mine aren't huge though, they are pretty small. They told me to get the Slow-Fe kind for slow absorption.

  • I'm joining this group too.  Failed my 1 hour test today though I wasn't really surprised since my father and bro both have diabetes and since I've notice a few indicators (some days I'm just super thirsty) I'd be more surprised if I passed.

Also, baby jumped from 26 percent at my 12/7/12 u/s to around 60ish percent for weight at today's u/s -- they estimated him at 1 lb 5 oz in December and they estimate him at 2 lbs 11 oz today.

  • I failed my 1 hour with a 158 and then passed the 3 hour. I also, as a PP mentioned, brought some crocheting (not knitting) to do to pass the time. Someone else mentioned the sugar high and then the crash, which I experienced as well. It was also helpful to have my mom there for company to pass the time. It went by fairly quickly because of it. Best of luck! It's not fun but it's not horrible either.
mc 5/3/2012, gone, but always in our hearts! <3

  • Yep, same here.  Failed the 1 hour, took the 3 hour test a couple of days ago.  I assume I'll find out the results tomorrow.  Really hoping I passed,  I didn't know that my mother was diabetic when she was pregnant with both me and my sister, so I'm a little nervous because it can be hereditary.  But someone else here on this posting said they got a 147 during the 1 hour test but passed the 3 hour - so that gives me some hope, since I got a 140 on the 1 hour test.  We'll see........
