How many weeks?

How far along we're you when you found out what the sex of the baby was? I just turned 35 a couple of months ago, but I know some Drs do more testing after 35. A friend if mine found out at 15 weeks. Is that right?

    There are some new tests out there that use a blood sample from the mother to check the baby for trisomies (Down's, trisomy 13 and trisomy 18). There are three tests that use the same technology: MaterniT21, Verifi, and Harmony. I know MaterniT21 will also tell you the sex of the baby (they look for Y chromosomes in the fetal DNA). You can have the MT21 blood sample taken any time after about 10 weeks, and it takes no more than 2 weeks to get results back. So you could know as early as 12 weeks. I did the MT21 test and got my results back at 14 weeks.

    You're welcome. I was definitely happy to have a less invasive alternative to an amniocentesis. Just a blood draw, easy peasy.

    I am 38 and I found out at my 20 weeks scan, just like I did with DS at 33.  Some insurance companies don't cover some of the newer blood tests so be sure to check on that.

    Had an early a/s at 16w4d if memory serves and they confirmed that I was having a girl. It was through my MFM. OB would have done it at 20 weeks.

    I found out at 16wks during a regularly scheduled u/s. I think being a boy, it was a little easier to confirm gender that early.

    I had Genetic testing done on my little guy at 14 weeks so we found out it was a boy when they called back with those results.

    I go in at 10 wks for a Mat21 test so will hopefully know by 12 weeks. Love that we can find out so soon!

    The ultrasound tech (many years experience, according to her) said she was 90% sure it was a boy when she did the NT scan at 9 or 10 weeks.  We did the MT21 and that was confirmed a week later. 

    A friend (who is only 31) found out yesterday at her anatomy scan (19 weeks).

    Son #1 is already 2! Not too much longer until Son No.2 arrives! Lilypie Maternity tickers
