Good morning December 2012 Mommies! I usually hang out on the Multiples and January 2013 board, as my due date was January 27, 2013, but my twins decided to make their appearance a little earlier than that. Here's the story....

On December 27th (exactly one month from my due date) I went for a routine growth scan, BPP and NST. I was expecting mono/di twins (basically identical twins who were sharing a placenta) who had shown a growth discordance from about 15 weeks onward. Since a growth difference in mono/dis can be an indication of some serious problems I was getting extra monitoring to make sure everything was OK, and thus far everything had been fine, but on the growth scan that morning they found the growth discordance to be at 24%, which is in the "significant" range so they decided to deliver the babies that day, figuring they were safer out than in. It was such a crazy moment; even though I had been on modified bedrest, was getting tons of BH contractions and my cervix was effaced, I still couldn't believe I was having them *that day*. So I went home, called DH, packed my bag and headed back to the hospital.....

Fast forward a few hours and Luke Charles and Noah Samuel were born via C-section at 5:41 pm, weighing 6 lbs 8 oz and 5 lb 3 oz. The surgery went really well and the boys were also very healthy, especially for being born a week and a half pre-term. They spent 4 days in the Special Care nursery and then two extra days at the hospital to make sure their weights stabilized. We have been home now for 4 days....I am tired of course (though I've been getting tons of family help, which is awesome!) but so happy to be home and so in love with these little guys.:)
