Yikes....I hope you are super careful and watch the baby like a hawk so lo doesn't choke. Also your lo digestive system is not ready for food like this....

Of course I'm right next to him at all times when he has food, but he has reached all the milestones that show his digestive tract is ready for solid foods. There are very few foods a baby can't eat once they hit these milestones (sitting up, reaching out, grabbing items and bring them to mouth). I've done research on baby-led weaning and feel comfortable with this parenting choice I have made for my family.

We're doing BLW, too. We haven't tried spaghetti yet, but I want to! So cute! It's so fun to watch them learn, isn't it? I love when DS puts his fingers in his mouth to hold the food in when he chews, haha!

Hmmm I thought you weren't suppose to introduce spices until after 8 months.....I would be afraid of an allergic reaction.

The 7-8m rule is outdated and not allergy-driven. Many cultures intro spices from the get-go. Plus, baby has been getting intro'd through my BM for a while. We're not giving him hot peppers or anything, but we're not purposefully giving him bland food either.

ETA: my pediatrician is aware of our feeding choices and behind us 100%

Everything NVU said and my pedi agrees. The only thing my pedi said to stay away from until 12 months old is honey and whole milk straight. Other then that a baby at 6mths or older can have anything. I did BLW with my 2nd and he's by far my better eater.

Awesome photo, can't wait to do this. We are doing BLW too. I get this sort of response all the time, it clearly makes people nervous. Which I do understand. Tt's not for everyone and I was very nervous too but I am so glad we are doing it. We are 3 weeks in, my son is just starting to actually eat. I just watched him mow down broccoli for breakfast of all the choices I gave him. How can that be be bad? I choose frosted pecan rolls and coffee for breakfast of all the choices in front of me . . .

My pedi agrees, anything but honey is a fine.

That's awesome! Do you puree it up or do you cut into small pieces? I pureed some chicken and macaroni for my LO the other night and he loved it!

That's awesome! Do you puree it up or do you cut into small pieces? I pureed some chicken and macaroni for my LO the other night and he loved it!

We just serve him as we take it. We gave him toast with it, too, which we cut up into finger size pieces. He also eats meat, not pureed. He's a good eater, and while we watch him like hawks, he's been very safe.
